Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Boy it sure has been a long time since I last spoke to any of you. I pray that this finds you all well. Dizz is STILL fighting a UTI, can you believe it, I know Jan does! Anyway, he is finally back at the group home and adjusting well. He is very weak, but today the owner said he was getting a bit stronger and he was caught trying to get out of bed a few times. He just smiled sheepishly at me, I had to laugh. It's great seeing him with his sense of humor in tact. I must apologize for not being around you guys. I have gotten a mindless job at Target to help pay bills. Between working 40 hours a week and getting errands done with Rosemary, MIL, I'm going crazy. I have no time to take care of myself. I'm gonna have to step up and talk to my honey and get him more involved in taking care of his mothers needs. I don't want to sound mean but I'm done. I am so exhausted it's not even funny. Pray for courage so that I don't chicken out and when he starts whining about how busy he is I don't cave in. I hope I haven't missed any major news here, I was trying to catch up on my reads and I ended up deleting them all. So I will go into the message list and see if I can catch up. I haven't heard from Cowie either, is she well? Have you all heard from her? if you out there email me...I miss you! Guest guest
Tori, So good to hear from you! I was wondering about you this past week and here you are! I can so relate to not being able to be there for MIL. After being out of work for 2 years my husband has started a job in Vancouver, 3000 miles from here, leaving me not only still working full time, having to deal with the purge, house updating for resale, dog, but also his mother. I am just not ready to be there for her, am still recovering from the intensity of the years spent doing for mom. My biggest hope right now is to be able to quit work the end of the school year so I can move on with a shorter timeline. You don't even mention fitting in time for your girls. I'm glad Dizz is showing some improvement and maintains his sense of humour. I know how much you care for him. We haven't heard from for a few weeks, perhaps about a month. She seemed to be doing Ok then. , Oakville Ont. Guest guest
Tori, I was thinking of you the other day and so glad to see a message. And it was good to hear about Dizz. Glad he is getting his sense of humor back. You sound very busy and yes, your SO might step up and help his Mom. Stick to your guns. It is important. Have a Happy Mom's Day and hug the girls for all of us. Hugs to you. Donna R Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in a nh. Guest guest
Remember you? How can we forget you?! :) Thanks for the update -- and YES if you're spent you need to express that -- one person can only do so much. I wish you strength for telling it like it is! Glad that Dizz has his sense of humor back. Companions are good for non-dementia folk too -- maybe a companion to help do errands with your MIL? Maybe do shopping online via Peapod (called something else in other states - but it's grocery delivery services) -- HEY even I use Peapod. (I'm carless and Peapod is a life saver with delivering groceries -- especially heavy bulky items like kitty litter & laundry detergent -- I limit it to monthly shopping -- the rest of the time I pick up smaller items myself... By chance I started using them -- the local supermarket was closed for renovations, so that's when we started -- when the supermarket reopened -- continued for the BIG shopping... It's even listed in Reader's Digest to SAVE money - b/c instead of buying things you weren't intending as you walk up & down aisles - cuz they look tempting - you usually buy the same staple items... And shopping takes me 5 minutes, seriously)
