So for him to say that he doesn't believe or never heard of this, I find hard to believe..............I don't even know this man but I can recall and probably find the e-mails from others in the last 10 years on him. Difulucan is volitile and can cause symptoms but I wouldn't put my child on either..........get the book the yeast connection to approach the yeast issues and ask for Andy Wakefield at the Thoughtfulness House..................he knows me and all about the Miralax children Jeanie Subject: New member.To: miralax Date: Thursday, March 26, 2009, 3:05 PM Long story. He's never done this on Miralax before but I've always been scared when he's on Miralax because of the warnings I get from others. Dr. Bock is our DAN! doctor. He said Miralax was OK to use. He thinks his new behaviors are from the Diflucan. Wants us to stop, add activated charcoal for a few days and then slowly add the Diflucan back and keep the charcoal going. Any comments or questions for me? My son is non-verbal and labeled as "severely autistic". We have started the process of working with Dr. Krigsman (GI doc works with children on the spectrum) at Thoughtful House but I'm not sure how we are going to keep paying for all of this. I can't stomach putting it on credit cards much longer! Hoping to apply and receive a grant. Checking with my insurance company as well. So much to research, UGH!! " He did not say he's " never heard of this " and I did not say that in my post. So I believe you are indicating he must not believe that Miralax is a problem, correct? And that may be true, so that's why I'm on here. Having said that, I would think there are a lot of parents out there who are very conflicted about taking what a physician tells you and what parents tell you and then trying to make the best decision for your child. Educating myself from both sides seems the wisest thing to do. Dr. Bock has come highly recommended. Is there anyone out there who has had a bad experience? I would like to know. You can e-mail me off this site if you feel more comfortable sharing your experience in a more private manner. Lastly, I would prefer my son to not be on either of these meds so as many suggestions as you can give me about alternative means of addressing constipation and yeast would be great. I talk to Dr. Bock again this Tuesday and I'd like to be able to converse with him on alternative means in a more educated manner. I think all meds come with some risk and they have to be weighed against the benefits. I have found the benefits easy to find (the drug companies/medical community are always eager to share that with you), but I'm here to learn more about specific risks and side effects as well as alternatives. I would suspect both the diflucan and miralax could be causing his issues(both are known for it). Diflucan is a synthetic form, I am curious if your DAN has considered the more natural forms of antifungal/yeast supplements? The natural forms are affordable comparing to scripts! I would definately consider it a culprit. If the gut is leaky it must get into the system. She is doing really well now because of an activator chiropractor. She had a long health history of big problems including stimming, hand flapping, cirles, head banging, tantrums, waking up freaking out for an hour plus, withdrawl etc. not to mention a horrible gi problem. We haven't been seeing him (Bock)that long. The more I get into the biomed, the more I'm aware that I need to be asking more questions, and what questions to ask. I think I've heard of the aloe vera juice before. I'll check it out. Also, I have a friend who is going to help me with his diet. She is having good luck with her son. I've been slow to jump on that but my mom has offered to help prepare meals for him to make it less time consuming. She will make batches of things that we can then freeze. My other question, what about using the activated charcoal he recommended to see if it will help with this potential yeast die off period? I bought some but I'm scared about that too. I did get his liver functioning tested today. Bock checks it 2 weeks after starting Diflucan and then every month after that. He also has us giving milk thistle with the Diflucan. My son is what I lovingly and laughingly (sometimes I have to laugh about it so I don't cry) refer to as " a stimming machine " ! Licking, grinding, biting, hand flapping, heel kicking, rocking/swaying, visual stims galore, etc... It's obsessive with him sometimes, especially lately. The licking and the grinding are the worst but the biting himself has really escalated in the past 2 weeks. He is very sensitive to medication as well. We've had to go SO SLOW with supplements even. I'm interested in your chiropractor comment. I had an appt with a chiropractor for him but cancelled it because there are so many other things we are doing I just coudln't fit another thing in and I was a little scared. He also has hydrocephalus (not shunted ) and mild CP from an intraventricular hemorrhage at birth (mostly can happen with preemies but he was full term).
