Hi all, I have to say....I really think this Fruit-Eze is actually working. My daughter just pooped tonight, which makes 3 days in a row....AND.. ..she has NEVER done this. It was the softest it has been since coming off of the Miralax. She takes 1 teaspoon in the morning, and 1 tablespoon at night. We have tried so much....not as much as some of the other moms on here, but I think this just might be the ticket for us. Plus....we have started to place her on the potty, 1 /2 hour after each meal, and I think this has also helped a great deal. Well....I just thought I would share. I hope maybe it can help someone else. PS...My daughter has been on the Fruit-Eze for a little over 2 weeks. ...Mom to Calli 3 1/2.... Guest guest
My daughter has also be constipated since birth. Our Dr's never said anything about it, even though we complained every visit. We tried Lactulose, flaxseed oil, mineral oil, prune juice, and Miralax. The Miralax worked, but after finding this site, I wanted her off of it. My daughter is IUGR/SGA born at 4 lb 11 oz at 37 weeks. We have always had feeding issues, so the constpation has alwyas been a battle because of those feeding issues. Our Genetics Dr. wanted her tested for Hirschprungs, but she just doesn't have enough signs of that in our eyes to put her thru the testing. At least....not at this time. We are trying all different options first, and so far...this has worked the best for us. We are just hoping for continued success, so we don't have to fall back on any more major testing. Guest guest
Amy, Im not sure! All I can say is that my son has been constipated from birth. Well.....not sure if I should call it constipated or not but his bowels would just NOT move much at all. Even while breastfeeding he would rarely pass a stool and I would end up having to give an enema about once a week. It's working very well for my son but he still has some issues to overcome! It has softened his poo and made it bulky enough to pass. They need a little bulk to the stool to have that sensation to need to go potty! It's working great for us! Guest guest
Amy, I've heard for years on here it works................when one is constipated, the doc's always look at the diet first, this is why I can't understand why one woman's doc on here said foods don't constipate................certain foods are binders and certain foods are easily digested, some have more fiber etc..............I'd give it a try Subject: Re: Fruit-Eze...so far really good. To: miralax Date: Friday, April 3, 2009, 7:22 PM does fruit eze work w/ kids who have been constipated since birth?? i'm so scared to try since all other high fiber ideas make his stools gigantic. Guest guest
For the most part it tastes like prunes....Not too bad, maybe a little tart. I put it on PBJ for her, and I also mix it with what she is having for breakfast and dinner. I put a little oatmeal on the spoon with the fruit-eze and she eats both at the same time. I put chicken or rice or whatever she is eating on the spoon also... or...she just eats it right off of the spoon. I think it is sweeter for a child than an adult. Guest guest
Simona, It taste like a jam or jelly you would put on toast! It actually taste nice. My son has issues with textures so at first he did not like it. Now...he just opens up and takes it right off the spoon. I had to convince him that it's his "medicine" and he needs it....now he takes it without complaining. It's working GREAT! Guest guest
Amy, I have found that even the bulkier stools are very, very soft! I have not had issues with real big stools, just medium sized and easy to pass. Depending on what he eats! What is working for us at the time is two teaspoons a day. We may cut back after a while to get to the daily recommended dose but I hate to mess things up when they are going so wonderfully! Let me know how it goes! Guest guest
, Don't feel bad....I feel like im becoming a poopy pro! LOL! I always keep track of my sons BM's and there consistency!LOL! Crazy but true! So this is day four for you? How exciting! Don't worry if you hit bumps in the road, etc just increase if you find issues again and decrease when you feel you no longer need a certain dose. It takes time for natural things to work in the body but this is a HUGE thing for both of us...like a major milestone. Keep me updated! My daughter just pooped tonight, which makes 3 days in a row....AND.. ..she has NEVER done this. It was the softest it has been since coming off of the Miralax. She takes 1 teaspoon in the morning, and 1 tablespoon at night. We have tried so much....not as much as some of the other moms on here, but I think this just might be the ticket for us.Plus....we have started to place her on the potty, 1 /2 hour after each meal, and I think this has also helped a great deal.Well....I just thought I would share. I hope maybe it can help someone else.PS...My daughter has been on the Fruit-Eze for a little over 2 weeks....Mom to Calli 3 1/2....
Guest guest
, That is funny! We were doing poop charts daily but my son got to where he was going daily for so long we haven't even done that lately. I use the charts for him to learn that he can win rewards, etc for using the potty! For some reason though I can remember the days in my head that he skips a day, etc. I don't get too nervous if he skips one day here and there! Hope everyone else has success with the fruit-eze! Guest guest
Hi - just wondering what dosages people give? I have a son who will be 4 in June and around 40 lbs. The tub says to give 2 tsp/day for children but wondering if it should be more for kids who don't " go " regularly. > > Hi all, > > I have to say....I really think this Fruit-Eze is actually working. > My daughter just pooped tonight, which makes 3 days in a row....AND....she has NEVER done this. Guest guest
Hi, My daughter will be 4 in Oct, and right now she is 26 pounds. She was going every 3-5 days. I give her 1 teaspoon in the morning with breakfast, and a tablespoon at night with dinner. It will be almost 3 weeks, and starting this week she is now going almost everyday to every other day. I'm sure others will tell you the doses they use for the weight of their children, and what works for them. Guest guest
photomom, My son also occassionally misses a day but it's never hard when he does! I thik that is GREAT that she's going just about everyday. Maybe once or twice a week my son may skip a day! Guest guest
Cristina, You can give more! It will not hurt. I think there is a threshold though where if you give too much it could cause the opposite effect which is constipation or TOO loose stools. I would start at two teaspoons and see how he does. My son has been on fruit-eze going on four weeks coming up and he still gets by with taking two teaspoons a day. If he eats something he should not or seems to be slowing down then I give one more teaspoon....equaling about three teaspoons for however long until he gets going stronger again. So far....we get by with two teaspoons! That would be a good place to start!
