Guest guest
Welcome, Kristal - glad the meds are helping you. They do not increase risk for Diabetes. It's not uncommon for autoimmune diseases to come in pairs though. I would try not to worry about it because that isn't true for everyone, and sounds like you're taking healthy steps to eliminate Diabetes risk. I am not sure about ashwaganda - levothyroxine (generic Synthroid or T4) doesn't interfere with anything but because you have an autoimmune disease now, you need to be careful about any immune-enhancing herbs (like echinacea). Maybe someone else can comment. Sometimes it does take a little while to get used to the thyroid hormone and it can make you feel panicky. I was on Paxil for about 4 months when I first started Levoxyl treatment. Thyroid hormone can be a shock to your system when your body has been desperate for it. The way one endo explained it to me is when you're hypothyroid, your body keeps increasing receptors to try and pick up thyroid hormone circulating in the blood. Then when you start taking Synthroid all of the sudden there are too many receptors and you feel like you're going hyper. That should resolve with time, but definitely tell your endo about your symptoms. Are you saying you had excess hair growth and now that is regulating? Usually excess growth comes from being hyper, not hypo, but the symptoms do get mixed in most of us. > > So glad to find this group! Guest guest
Thanks for the insight/info. A homeopathic person had me start supplementing with insolitol (considered to be crucial like the b vitamins and also good for blood sugars) and that has helped-along with adjusting to the med with reduced anxiety. I am curious to see my blood work the end of the month. I did get an a1c test kit and my blood level % was 5.5 so I am still in a healthy range for average blood sugars! YAY!
