Thanks Joan (and i am glad to hear that some insurance COs are paying for so

many of the gut health tests :)

what symptoms do you think Dairy caused you? and could the doctors tell by

testing or biopsy that *Dairy had done you the most damage?

thanks

-Carol

(btw i do wonder about my own yeast load/types etc; and i realize now that it

did not help 1 bit that i started eating lots of *yeast/gluten-free bread (EG a

piece almost every day). where as before i had wheat often but which often did

not contain Yeast (eg i had wheat other than 'bread' :)

and i think all that yeast-bread helped make my intestines worse ( tho the

massive stress year of the NTH Shortage!!s AND getting slightly OVermedicated on

each of the 4 RE_Formulations /old/new Armour and Old/new Naturehthrodi) for

over a year = did not help me or my stress and immune systems one bit :^\

Carol,

My getting sick is a combination of unfortunate and poor choices, stress, dental

work, poor/unhelpful health care

I started out with candida and a rare yeast...geotrichium from homemade cheese

from the farmer's market. A number of us got sick (although I did not find this

out until two years later) I was one of the two left with lasting effects. I

was having dental surgery at the same time and between the antibiotics and the

yeast taking over I really stopped functioning. By the time I got to the

naturopath I was suffering from malnutition even though I was eating a pretty

good diet. I am left with a sensitivity to yeast, but as the years go by it is

less so. I do eat some flatbread that I buy locally or make myself.

I started having constant extremely soft stools almost two weeks after eating

the cheese (by the way, I LOVED cheese!...especially homemade

monzerella)....that was clearly the slippery slope into illness for me...within

two months I could not leave the house because of constant diarrhea....then came

the colonoscopy and endoscopy, each of which left me sicker. I do not know when

the rashes started with dairy....it was difficult to tell what caused the

rashes...now it is clear that dairy = rashes, itching, diarrhea, headache.

The doctors found significant inflammation and stunted villi. What caused this

who can truthfully say....chicken or the egg problem although once one issue

gains a foothold then more sensitivities develop. I have severe leaky gut and

dysbiosis that is partly healed. I continue to work at this and work at getting

a healthy bacteria population to thrive. I believe that I will always have a

tendency towards these issues so a lifestyle change is in order. My digestion is

impaired and I bolster it with HCI and digestive enzymes and when I don't I

suffer the consequences and lose ground health wise. I take liquid vitamins and

liquid b's as well even though I eat a great diet. It makes a difference with

my absorption problems.

I have a healthy distrust of regular medical practitioners now...as they sent me

home with elavil to slow down motility and refused to address what they call a

" functional issue " . I was pretty ill by that time.

Almost six months later I finally found my way to a naturopath and began the

trek to health.

One month of a strict elimination diet, supplements and then three days of

diflucan changed my life.....however, because of the villi being so damaged I

have never been able to successfully reintroduce dairy of any kind...raw or

otherwise.

Over time I have collected a fair knowledge about leaky gut, candida, dysbiosis,

repletion of bacteria, etc.

I have lived with thyroid medication issues as well....I had antibodies because

of my food sensitivities...I am down to 90 mg of Armour and do fairly well on

it. Theorectically I should be able to get off thyroid meds some day, but I

don't see it yet.

I have to avoid dairy, preservatives, sugar, fermented foods, coffee, most tea

(although that is changing), and I limit yeast, soy, corn, packaged and bottled

dressings, spicy foods, etc.

I have found safe food sources and grow a very productive small garden. Through

this I have rebuilt my adrenals through careful food choices and lifestyle

choices. I am glad that I did not go on cortisol replacement.

Yes, I am slowly decreasing my Armour from 135....that was as high up as I

went...I am going down by 15 as I feel ready. I had tried decreasing too fast

and found out that slow is much better.

When I do not eat gluten, dairy, coffee and a few other things I have no

antibodies....isn't that interesting?
