Wow, do you live near there, or are you on a vacation?

To: asthma Sent: Fri, November 5, 2010 7:53:51 PMSubject: Autumn weather

I'm sufferering again with the weather now. It's damp and cold and horrible. Three days ago I was in Marrakech and it was about 30 degrees and sunny, and a week ago I was in teh Sahara desert where it was warmer stll, and a very dry heat. Before that I had cooler mountain air, in an area with few roads and cars so no pollution (I went for a 3 hour walk with quite a bit of uphill, suffering from a cold yet had no breathing issues at all).

Since were talking about complaining neighbors, I have a woman that lives below me, and since I am short, and my bed is high, I make a thump when I get out, my feet hitting the floor. LOL. And my neighbor tells me about it. I told her to buy me a pair of steps and then I wouldn't make the thump.

If I had a flag flying on a pole in my own yard, I honestly could care less what any of my neighbors said. It would stay. I've had to deal with loud music and don't gripe much unless it's late at night and I'm trying to sleep. As for loud car radios, sometimes I'd like to take every wire out of these two cars that are driven up my street with the bass thumping so loud and hard that it vibrates the whole house. These guys live up the street and laugh at you like you're crazy if you ask them not to rattle the windows with it. Otherwise, my neighbors and I get along fine. Ann's right, we're fast losing our freedoms.

I dont know...if someone is doing something reasonable in the privacy of their yard, which they bought and paid for and pay taxes on, what right do we have to place unreasonable requests on them? My aunt in Florida has a neighbor who moved in after they were there. My uncle was in the Navy, his two sons the Marines. They have forever had a flag flying in front of their home. The neighbor complains to them that the flag makes too much noise. So my uncle took the flag down and put silencers on the clips. NOW the neighbor complains that the flag is offensive because she can hear it FLAP in the breeze. Should my uncle have to take down his flag pole that has been there for 20 plus years b/c the new neighbor doesnt like his flag? Btw...new neighbor is from Canada.

On the other hand, if the neighbors are loud and obscene or doing things that are above reason, then I dont have a problem with someone complaining. But, nowadays if you own an RV you cant park it in your own yard or you get ticketed in many places. Now we are having this discussion about WIND CHIMES?? Whats next? Pool filters making too much noise?

We as a society seem to have lost perspective on what is reasonable and what isnt....and in doing so, we are dangerously in peril of losing our status as a free country because eventually we will legislate our rights away. Its already started, and we are sliding down a very slippery slope at a very fast pace.

Re: - Off Topic

I agree. If a person wants to have wind chimes in THEIR yard, that is their right. Ill never understand when or how people got the idea that they can start telling other people what they can/cannot have in their own yard b/c it is offensive to someone else. Different sounds are offensive to different people.

IF a person doesnt buy the cheapest, chintziest wind chimes out there, some are very beautiful sounding. Ours cost about 50.00 and they are tuned wind chimes. Some clocks make the same chime sounds as our wind chimes. Its all about quality.

How interesting, does the heat make any difference in your asthma. Dry heat is the best for me, but, anything with a lot of humidity just makes me so sick.

It was dry heat there, especially in teh desert, and I was fine. But then when I was in Cuba 2 years ago it was very hot and humid, and I was also fine there, though not quite as good. I'd been slightly concerned as our trip leader had said that asthmatics tend not to cope as well at altitude, then on our second day when I was still suffering qutie a bit from a cold we haf a 3 hour walk in the mountains, on a chilly, misty day, but the tour guide said that she found that asthmatics did better in the mountains, and she was right, I was much better than at home.I also find steam really helps, so going to the hammam, the traditional baths there, helped loads tooJennTha can tek t'lass outta

I tolerate lower humidity better than high, and don't tolerate really dry air well. I use a humidifier on low in winter because the colder air tends to be dry and the heat is drying. If the indoor humidity gets too high, I turn the humidifier off for a bit. To: asthma Sent: Sat, November 6, 2010 1:51:43 PMSubject: Re: Autumn weather

I find that when I go someplace on vacation, I always tend to be better. Up home, the humidity didnt play too much with my asthma, but down here in the south, the combination of heat and humidity tends to make it touchy. Now that it is cooling down, if I can avoid the upper respiratory infections, Ill be good to go. Of course, we have a girl in our class who showed up to a conference we had Monday sick as a dog (blaming it on the flu shot from 2 weeks ago and saying shes not contagious of course) and she tends to "spray" what she says...and did so over some people's food. Then she missed the next 3 days of school...and came to school on Friday with a 101 temp saying shes fine...shes on antibiotics. Several of us have already told me that she shouldnt be around us and if we get sick its her fault...

LOL. I tend to tolerate the air better every where my house is not. I do great on the coast which is high humidity and very low altitude and I did great out in Denver which is very dry and very high altitude. I am at my wits end this season here.
