Guest guest
ce, welcome to the group. I'm not sure if we can help you with exactly what you want but we'll sure try. I wish I could say I'm asthma free. I hate it. I can't mess with my diet to the extremes you do as I'm also diabetic. I do eat meat and don't believe that has any affect on my asthma. One thing almost everyone here will say is there is NO CURE for asthma. We can be symptom free, but the asthma can be triggered by so many things and it's impossible to totally eliminate all triggers unless you've learned to control the weather and winds, pollens, and such things. LOL I'm making funnies here. You very well could be having problems because of some of these factors you can't control. Moving around a lot has its own problems as there are allergens/triggers in each part of the world or country that present themselves to us as we settle in.Someone else in the group might have more insight, but as for long term success you want, I don't have any. I just myself came off a round of prednisone for a flare up.As for my life being compromised, it's not. I do what I want, when I want. I do have to watch out for triggers and such things, but I live my life. I'm 52, go to college, go to church, take care of my home, love my family, and live to the extent I'm able with other medical issues besides asthma.Good luck to you and, again, welcome to the group,, Co-ModeratorTo: asthma Sent: Fri, December 31, 2010 8:24:20 AMSubject: NEWBIE HELLO-Alternative treatment Hi everyone, I'm excited to participate in what I hope will be a fruitful exchange. I've had asthma since 1950. In 1995, I did my first long water fast. I was completely off medication in 3 days (as has EVERY asthmatic I've seen fast). I have followed a very stringent vegan diet and have been asthma free for as long as two years at a time and then refasted. The .last several years I've been relapsing with increasing frequency, which has led me to move several times, explore other diets, tests, nutritionists with little success. I'm convinced disease has strong correlation with digestive/metabolic imbalances which I haven't got a handle on. Any experiential help/resources would be greatly appreciated. Please speak from PERSONAL LONG TERM SUCCESS only. I want to be completely rid of asthma, and have no interest in discussing medication or other forms of compromised life. I'm currently exploring possible hypothyroid as a root problem-low thyroid hormone lowers ability to produce HCL, etc. which causes undigested proteins to enter system causing inflammatory response-rise in cortocoids-weakened adrenals, chronic stress. Edgar Cayce has prescribed atomidine and other thyroid supplements with positive results. Thanks so much. ce Goldman
Guest guest
Hi ce,Many of us are interested in natural remedies to control our asthma. First, you must think of asthma as a process. It is not a disease that can be "cured". You may find a way to control your triggers which will control the flares, but the underlying condition will never go away. The biggest part of control is identifying your triggers. Are they environmental? Food? other disease processes? Have you been tested for environmental allergies (pollens, danders, molds, etc)? Another issue that can really affect asthma is GERD. Have you been tested for GERD? Have you had your thyroid tested? What about your heart? I do realize that you are trying to get away from doctors, but you really must use them to help identify the underlying causes. Then once the causes are identified, natural remedies can be explored. What you have described in your email is just shooting in the dark. Specific diets may work for those who have issues that are digestive related. There are also many other natural remedies that help many people. However, there are many asthmatics (myself included) that are not able to find a complete control. I have experimented for the last several years with natural and pharmaceutical treatments. Currently I am on a combination of both, but the pharmaceuticals are much more effective and reliable. I am not what would be considered controlled at all. Good luck in your journey. I would love to be kept informed.MadelineTo: asthma Sent: Fri, December 31, 2010 8:24:20 AMSubject: NEWBIE HELLO-Alternative treatment Hi everyone, I'm excited to participate in what I hope will be a fruitful exchange. Guest guest
I will check out the Edgar Cayce information. Where did you reference the information you posted (below?) How low does the thyroid hormone have to be to create these problems? It seems that this could be treated with the normal treatments for hypothyroid if it dose exist. I am interested in what you said about the lowered ability to produce HCL, etc., which creates the inflammatory response rise in adrenals. This is important to me because I am sufferning right now from added problems to inflammation in my joints, right kidney, bladder and lungs. I have suspected that something is not working right in my body that is creating these problems. YOU might be onto something important! >>>>>> I'm currently exploring possible hypothyroid as a root problem-low thyroid hormone lowers ability to produce HCL, etc. which causes undigested proteins to enter system causing inflammatory response-rise in cortocoids-weakened adrenals, chronic stress.
