My own nonverbal communication is often highly inconsistent with my

inner mental state, thereby communicating all sorts of mixed messages to

the world. It's been a serious obstacle for me throughout life, whether

it be in social situations, relationships, or on the job.

Because of my heightened awareness of the degree to which my body

language and tone of voice is so often misunderstood, I was terrified

that I might become a suspect in my husband's death when notified by law

enforcement. Fortunately, my husband took great care to leave behind a

useful trail of breadcrumbs that would be less likely to falsely

implicate others in his suicide.

I've been told that these sort of communication inconsistencies are very

common among NLD and Aspergers folks. Can you imagine how much worse

the situation might have been for Knox (presumed NT) had she been on the

spectrum?
