Guest guest
Thank you sweet Donna, Yes, I have figured it out. I have peripheral neuropathy, and the feet don't tell the brain where they are. I forget that sometimes and turn to do something else, and my feet don't get the message because of the deadened nerves. So, they don't do what they are supposed to, and my body is moving but my feet aren't. I had turned from the refrigerator after uprighting from bending over, and when I turned my feet didn't turn, and I just rolled right to the floor. Thanks kind lady, You are a peach, Imogene In a message dated 8/20/2006 10:44:55 PM Central Daylight Time, twomido@... writes: Imogene, I am sorry to hear about your accident. My feet and legs just gave out or something. I didn't loose consciousness. So? Well, My arm came down the corner of the oven handle, and dug a long hole in it, then scraped over four X three inches of skin off the upper arm. My knees and ankles are a bruised mess. I am sore all over, but I didn't break any bones, and am once again home, after spending a day and night in ER. The kids rallies in a hurry, even washed and gassed up the car. Blessed kids. Guest guest
Imogene -- aye aye aye! What an ordeal! Glad to hear that you are OK and back on your feet. Take care of yourself. I 'diagnosed' my brother with peripheral neuropathy (he has these burning feet sensations) But he's a guy and won't go to the doctor and he's in a 3rd world country. Bought him a couple of books about it: " Numb Toes and Aching Soles: Coping with Peripheral Neuropathy " by A. Senneff and " Numb Toes and Other Woes: More on Peripheral Neuropathy " by A. Senneff. Now if my brother would get his butt home to visit his mother -- I'll give the books to him... Of course I told him to go to the doctor and I verbally mentioned this thought via the phone - but he has chosen to cut himself off from the family - can't do more than I already have for him... You raised your children to be very caring people and they in turn took great care of you. I hope you cuts, scratches, bruises, aches and pains will soon be a thing of the past. Guest guest
Thank you , your brother needs to understand that once the nerves are dead they can't be brought back. Also that he can Fall as I have done many times, or break something without even knowing it. And get sores on his feet if the feet are not cared for diligently. The sores may not heal, and he does need a doctor. Sometimes this is caused by diabetes, and if so he sure needs to see a doctor. The neuropathy can be a blessing in disguise. A strong signal to find out what is causing it. And, treat it if possible. Tell him I have used a cream like capsasion (sp) for a long time to quell some of the horrendous pain that the larger nerves can invoke. Rub it on every night, and get relief for sleeping. It takes a few weeks for it to work, but it does. Imogene In a message dated 8/21/2006 5:58:32 AM Central Daylight Time, octoryrose@... writes: Imogene -- aye aye aye! What an ordeal! Guest guest
Imogene: Please take care of the caregiver. Remember that we must first take care of ourselves so that we can take care of our LO. It is sort of like when the oxygen mask comes down in the airplane. First, you put it on yourself and then you are strong and able to help others. It is not our nature to do that, but we must. Thinking of you. Guest guest
Thank you Myrna, I sure am trying. Tomorrow at 6AM I have to have a CAT SCAN for my lungs and heart. Thursday, My husband has to go to the vascular lab to check his arteries, (I drive) Friday I will have an Endoscopy. We have been getting our papers in order once again, because Texas has changed their laws, and we have had to go thought the whole whoopla all over again. But, we have them done now. I have had fits with my arm. Not so much form the injury but from allergies to some guaze and the tape, even paper tape. So, Smarty me (brag brag) I found some guaze that works on the injury, not for wrapping the arm, and got a nice long elastic bandage that are worn on injured knees etc. It was soft. I carefully wrapped it around the whole arm, and no more bad tape hurting, giving me hives. It held several 4X4 guaze pieces in place. My arm is sore or I would pat me on the back, or break it trying. (bouncing with laughter here) Ya'll have a great day tomorrow. Guest guest
Thanks Sharon, I think I tried to break my arm patting myself on the back, or from falling out of the chair laughing. The wrapping tape is a wonderful thing. Let's me sleep, and no more hives. Guest guest
Imogene I am catching up on posts after being gone for days at the hospital with Mom. I am sorry to hear you've had some problems. Hope all is going well now. And thank you for your heartfelt kindness and prayers for my mom. We had to come home for a few days to catch up on stuff. The nurse reported to me last night that Mom is being a non cooperator about getting up and moving around which is the main goal now. Tomorrow when we return to the city I will give her a pep talk. Thanks & Ginny
