Guest guest
I know baths are best to get the poop moving, but I didn't do. Daughter just was standing in shower screaming trying to poop. We have done everything we know of and nothing. She won't eat her yogurt with the MOM in it, we are on multi vitamin, acidophilis (sp) and enzyme. Son won't go either, but will NOT eat any of the medicine. Maybe its cause I am almost 36 weeks pregnant, but I feel like I cannot handle this. We do suppository now once a week with daughter. Its horrible and painful for her. I am just at my wits end. 6, Down syndrome, Autism
Guest guest
This must be so frustrating. I can't imagine having two children who are struggling and a baby on the way. I have one son with major poop prproblems and I feel desperate about it every day. No advice here, just want to lend some virtual moral support. You're not alone. Guest guest
Sorry you are going through this, it can be so emotional sometimes(I find it harder to handle when it is pms time). Please forgive me if I have asked this befor, but with your daughter, has she had colonoscpy or biopsies? I ask due to her syndrome, motility, nerve cell issues are more commen in down syndrome!! I think you had mentioned she just mostly eats yogurt. Sounds like she is very sensory!! Although this doesnt work as good as whole aloe vera juice it can help some, it is called "s" aloe vera juice. It has absolutely no taste or smell, infact it looks like water. We started out with georges and did see some help(especially with his reflux) but not super good with the stools(would have required more). But reflecting back now realizing our sons recent diagnoses of hirschsprungs this could be why it takes so much more strength of things to keep him going, so some one else may have better luck with the georges. I no this seems harsh a little, but we have gotten it so down packed with using a syringe for our son that this is one of our ways of getting things in him. It was a struggle at first but easy now(our choice was g-tube or this syringe way). You uptake the medication/supplement into the syringe, stand behind them, put hand on forhead, stick it in the side between cheak and tongue and just squirt in(slow is best due to avoid going in to fast). They may get upset at first, but it is so worth it. It takes a couple of minutes and then hopefully better movements. for instance the MOM for your daughter, she doesnt like the taste(Im presumming this is even the plain flavor), measure what you need, syringe in fairly quick or what ever method works best for not getting them to upset, then quickly syringe water(if they wont drink after), the water is so important we discovered with the MOM. This would work for your son also. It is better for them to get upset with this method than to go through what they are later with hard stools. As far as the suppository, they dont soften the stools(this is most likely the pain), maybe consider the glycerin form, it is liquid. It well be ok, we are here for you!! Guest guest
,I'm so sorry... it must be so hard for you. Sorry if someone has mentioned it before but have you tried the Kid Calm or Natural Calm? I'm using the raspberry lemon flavor for my daughter and it tastes like lemonade (I had some myself to see what it tastes like). Perhaps she'll like that?Just wanted to reach out and give you some support - you are doing the best you can and some days are really rough. Hope it gets better soon for you.hugs,SimonaTo: miralax Sent: Wednesday, January 21, 2009 3:15:15 PMSubject: I cannot handle this I know baths are best to get the poop moving, but I didn't do.
