My talk with uro

Hi

I had to go to my urologist today. I mentioned my nsg telling me I need to

have a decompression surgery at some point (we have decided to take this six

weeks at a time and if I can make it six months without increasing symptoms

we'll cut it to every six months..in the mean time if I find the symptoms

unbearable he'll schedule it ASAP..great nsg huh?) Anyway...

My urologist (who's treated me since I was dx. with tethered cord over two

years ago) said the dx. of AC made sense to him. I lost the use of my

bladder completely after my first untethering (hope that wasn't too much

information.) He went on to say that he feels the ACM might be the cause of

my bladder loss and not the tethered cord. He also said he wouldn't be

surprised if some of my lower body symptoms lessened.

He came to Maine from Mass General Hosp and said at MGH he treated Chiari

patients who had bladder loss due to the malformation.

I know I've heard some people on this list state they have bladder

difficulties and lower extremity problems/pain or weird sensations.

Has anyone had bladder problems/lower body troubles and not been dx. with or

have a suspected tethered cord?

If so, what were your symptoms? Did they go away with decompression?

I hate to get my hopes up too high over his statements, yet at the same

time, if it's true it would make a lot of sense.

Sorry again for the length...I just wanted to explain why I was asking these

questions and hopefully someone will tell me they've had a similar

experience.

Thanks for any responses.

Kathy in Southern Maine

Hi Kathy,

I have some bladder problems. I am unable to empty it completely and

always seem to feel as if I need to go.

Haven't had any surgery.

Hugs,

Judy Marie

Hi Everybody,

Kathy, this isn't going to answer

any of your questions but I just

wanted to say something.

As you know.......since we are

both on the Tethered Cord List,

that I have had pretty bad outcomes

with having my Cord Released. I

have also been wondering if ACM played

any part in my Big Losses after my

Tethered Cord surgeries!?!

I hope you find what you are looking

for.

Take Care,

Brande
