Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I appreciate the kind words. And I am glad you *finally* got the help that you deserve -we all deserve. Is the high dose mag-ox mean magnesium oxide? If so, you will have to take tons of it - magnesium citrate malate is the best absorption kind. Magnesium oxide is the most difficult form of magnesium to absorb, the most likely to give you diarrhea, and it is also the cheapest, so that's what is found in many magnesium supplements. Magnesium citrate is significantly more absorbable and gentler on our gut. Malate means that the magnesium citrate is complexed with malic acid, which ushers the magnesium into the cell where it is needed, thus making each milligram of magnesium more effective. We can only absorb a certain amount of magnesium with each dose. If we exceed the amount we are able to absorb we will absorb even less because of the shortened gut transit time (the time it takes what you've swallowed to go through your digestive tract from end to end), which should be at least 16 hours. Frequent small doses work much better than a single dose of the same total number of milligrams. Ordinarily the right times to take magnesium are three times a day with meals. Some people will need to take four doses a day with the fourth dose taken at bedtime. Maybe the fibro and heart issues will lessen or even disappear once you get your magnesium replenished. The brands I trust are Nature's Way, Pure Encapsulations, Thorne Research, Biotics Research and Nutricology. I also, have taken liquid magesium with some improvement. One last note, a friend was Dx'd with fibromyalgia, IBS, and Lupus. She suffered from fatigue, insomnia, muscle/joint pain, muscle cramps/twitches, migraines, and heart palpitations for over 15 years. After, I regulated my blood sugar with magnesium, I encouraged her -actually begged and insisted- she take magnesium, too. Witin a couple weeks most of her symptoms disappeared. Guest guest
I just purchased magnesium citrate -- hopefully it will help! Thank you for the recommendation. I have a couple of questions though: 1) Is 400 mg an ok dose? Or do Hashi people tend to need more? 2) I purchased Blue Bonnet. 2 pills equal the dose. I am taking one in the morning and one in the evening -- is that preferable? 2) Do I have to avoid any vitamins or minerals if I am taking this? Thanks so much! -EB > > > > > > > > > Hey Ms. BJ, > > > You missed your calling! Guest guest
Hi , Your plan looks good to me. Just beware that Mg citrate alone may give you loose stools. Back-off it that occurs. Magnesium is best absorbed with meals. I do not take calcium but the experts say if you do take calcium take magnesium 2-3 hours after the calcium for best absorption of both minerals. Consider buying magnesium citrate malate in the future. I take 200 mg with breakfast, lunch and dinner; I used to take it at breakfast and dinner. I feel much better now though. Take what your body needs as this is highly individualized. HTH, ~Bj > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hey Ms. BJ, > > > > You missed your calling! Guest guest
Thanks again Bj! If anyone could look over my vitamins that I am taking throughout the day and make comments I would greatly appreciate it. I am taking my thyroid pill early in the morning. Then about 1 - 2 hours later I take: -prenatal multi (three total daily is the dosage) -prentatal DHA omega (two pills daily is the dose) -one magnesium pill (two total daily) -and 1 brazil nut (for selenium, three total daily) Lunchtime I have another brazil nut and 1 more prenatal multivitamin. Before bed I take -the last prenatal multi -the last prenatal omega dha -sublingual b complex (1,000 mcg) -Vitamin d -magnesium -Brazil nut 1) Am I missing anything? 2) I know people are taking sea salt. What is that for and should I consider it? 3) Is it ok to take the magnesium even though the multivitamin has 7.5% of the daily calcium? Thanks everyone. I am just trying to work through all of this! -EB > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hey Ms. BJ, > > > > > You missed your calling! Guest guest
I'm not sure what's in your prenatal, but they usually have iron and calcium, both of which are a no-no near thyroid pills. You should wait 4 hours to be safe. To keep it simple, I never take any vitamins in the morning. Night is best, afternoon if you have to. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hey Ms. BJ, > > > > > > You missed your calling!
