Anxiety attack or asthma attack

Hello all,

I need some help - my 2 year old daughter scared us last night with something

new.  She has ACM 1 6 mm and was decompressed on 12-2-08.  Symptoms disappeared

at first, but all symptoms have returned in some form or fashion except her

migraines and balance issues.  She was asleep - actually earlier than normal.

About 2:15 am she is heard with a whimper of a cry and comes into our room with

a raspy type sound and attempting to cough.  She is trying to cry and gasping

non-stop for air.  We try to settle her while trying to figure out what is going

on or what the problem was.  She continued to strain and ended up throwing up

every where.  This caused more attempts to cry as it hurt very bad.  She then

went through a period of time of being out of control on balance and shaking

like she was freezing.  We put her in the bath to soothe her which settled her

some and then gave three treatments back to back (I also called the nurse line

by this

point).  After about 1 1/2 hour, she finally slowed her breathing, it was not

so raspy, and fell back to sleep.  Her respirations were about 21 a minute

through most of the incident, which I know normal is 20 to 40 for a toddler.

We almost took her to the ER and were actually a little scared during some of

this as she could not get a breath.  She woke up perfectly happy and sounded

normal this AM - no issues.

She can not communicate effectively to tell us what was up.  We don't know if

she had a bad dream.  Anyone ever experience this?  She has never had asthma

issues or anxiety issues?  However, both do run in the family.

Thanks,

Haleigh healthy, and wife to in Texas
