Oh lordy lordy, - no. *All* scientific fields have experienced fraud. Since a long time back there have been hundreds++. It used to be relatively rare. Most scientists had little incentive to be dishonest. Things are different now: For a variety of reasons mostly related to money and the prospect of fame, reports of scientific misconduct and fraud are increasing world-wide. Relatively recent, in a field of interest to all of us here: * Wakefield*, who claimed links between the MMR vaccine, *autism* and inflammatory bowel disease. He was found guilty of dishonesty in his research and *banned from medicine* by the UK General Medical Council. Wikipedia has a decent general article (from which I abstracted the paragraph above): <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_misconduct> There you'll find some exact references and numerous key-words for further search. - Bill, AS, 79 ...geneticist (inter alia) -- WD " Bill " Loughman - Berkeley, California USA http://home.earthlink.net/~wdloughman/wdl.htm
