Guest guest
hi. i am a 41 year old mom to 3 (11, 13, 14). i work full time outside the home. i'm married and live on a small farm where we raise our own beef cattle. we also have goats (for cleaning weeds and brush), rabbits (as pets), cats and a dog. i am quite shy (almost to the point of having social anxiety), even online where it's easy to be anonymous. it's taken me almost 3 weeks after joining to send this. so, please forgive me if i don't post much. i was diagnosed about a year ago. the rheumy poked me a few times and announced i had fibro since all my bloodwork came back negative for arthritis. he told me to take tylenol arthritis. so much for that. i see my family doc every six months for med checks for high blood pressure and high cholesterol. i don't speak up much about how i really feel, even though i know i should. i have nowhere near the number of illnesses most of you have, so sometimes i wonder if i have the right to be here. i have chronic pain, but can usually get through the day, albeit exhausted at the end of the day. i am not taking any medication specifically for the fibro, but do take trazadone to help me sleep (i've had sleep problems for many years), which seems to be losing its effectiveness lately. we have a hot tub and it is good for temporary relief. we got it (pre-fibro-diagnosis) because my husband thought it would be good to have for our aching backs, especially after coming out of the hay field and after long driving trips. he drives school bus and drives charter trips for different groups as well. i have read the suggestions posted here about salonpas and magnesium and zinc and intend on looking into those. i doubt i have much to contribute at this point, because i think i've been living in denial thinking that this will just go away if i can just get some rest. I tend to ignore my own needs and spend most of what little energy i have on my family. anyhow, thanks for listening. you all seem like a great group of people. -T
Guest guest
hi T and welcome to the group. I am also a new member here and like you I am lucky that I do not have so many of the multiple medical problems that so many of the members seem to have. However, I will tell you that the group is a blessing no matter the level of your medical problems. It is a wonderful forum of information and support, not to mention laughter and from what I have observed in my short time, friendship. I hope you will continue to participate in the group because i feel that you will receive a great reward, emotionally, from it. I understand completely about taking care of yourself last. I know that many women tend to the same thing, sick or healthy. I tend to do the same thing being a single mom trying to take care of two kids, work full time, be in the band boosters club, and girl scout leader. Welcome to the group, and I hope you enjoy it here! > hi. i am a 41 year old mom to 3 (11, 13, 14). i work full time > outside the home. i'm married and live on a small farm where we > raise our own beef cattle. we also have goats (for cleaning weeds > and brush), rabbits (as pets), cats and a dog. i am quite shy > (almost to the point of having social anxiety), even online where > it's easy to be anonymous. it's taken me almost 3 weeks after > joining to send this. so, please forgive me if i don't post much. Knowledge is power, and as a group... we have lots to give. Lots of info, lots of understanding, lots of support, lots of caring, lots of kindness, lots of humor, lots of friendship, lots of shoulders to lean on, lots of friendly ears to listen, and most of all... lots of wonderful and amazing people here. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general. 2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better. Have a nice day everyone.
