Guest guest
I wouldnt think to many 1mth olds would know to hold there stool. Im thinking there is something else going on with your daughter due to how early especially this started. Now although my son has hirschsprungs I did notice defenet issues following each round of the DTaP and MMR vaccines. I would say he had a double wammy when it comes to his gi/constipation issues. Jennie<>< Subject: encopresisTo: miralax Date: Friday, January 9, 2009, 6:16 PM HI I just posted a message under Hirschprungs' s Disease. I have another question. My dr. keeps saying she has encopresis, the soiling in the underwear. Everything I read online says that this is a condition in "toilet trained" children. My daughter began this at the age 2 yrs. 9 months. I actually let her continue doing this for at least 1 1/2 months before I thought maybe she wanted to be potty trained and go poopy on the potty. It was for almost 4 months that I tried to potty train her with this condition, not knowing that all the while she was gettting backed up.So couldn't it be smoething else, besides normal constipation if she has been constipated since 1 month old and was leaking way before toilet training. Thanks,
Guest guest
Thanks Jenni, The dr. at first thought maybe hirschprungs because it did start so early, but at this time I think he is forgetting that it did start early and he is treating it like a bahavioral issue. My gut says no, it's something else or something to do with food allergies. He told me today that rarely do you see staining with Hirschprungs. At this point aside from a good span for abouy 6 weeks in Dec., we have been going around and around with increases in Glycolax, sometimes 2 caps a day and enema clean outs at least once a month. I lost it today after the dr. visit. My husband thinks that we have had two professionals tell us it behavioural be that must be it. Mother's instinct is telling me different. > > > Subject: encopresis > To: miralax > Date: Friday, January 9, 2009, 6:16 PM > > > > > > > HI > > I just posted a message under Hirschprungs' s Disease. Guest guest
Please trust your instincts on this. Find another gastro if needed if this one doesnt do more. I experienced similar thing in that my son is mentally impaired and was told on several occaissions that his gi issues are commen in mentally impaired and no other causes may be there, boy was they wrong. My gut instincts always new it was something else going on. Moms know there children the best. Push for further tests, it cant hurt but even be an answer. And if everything comes back good at least you can feel comforted that you did check. Also I wanted to let you know a colonoscopy well not diagnose HD unless they do the biopsies(my sons 1st biopsie showed nothing, the deeper ones did), but can help with many other diagnoses. My son kept requiring more and more miralax also(up to 3caps, which I did not do and discovered natural). Even those without HD etc well eventually require more and more PEG also, this stuff is bad! Guest guest
Wow, when I read the explosive BM comment, I thought that is her. We say she literally blows it up, you can hear it from the other room. Sometimes it will be gas, but sometimes it sounds like gas, but was a BM. Now, when she had her good weeks there in Dec. , she did have what Iw ould call a normal BM but also the explosives. Very intereesting. The dr. wants to do a rectal biopsy, coloscopy and endoscopy. I know the rectal is for the HIrschprungs. Thanks it is great talking to you. > > > > From: inserram <inserram@ .> > > Subject: encopresis > > To: miralax@yahoogroups .com > > Date: Friday, January 9, 2009, 6:16 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > HI > > > > I just posted a message under Hirschprungs' s Disease. Guest guest
Others have already said it - I'll second, third, fourth it... follow your heart & your instincts until you find an answer that sits right with you and your child. Hang in there! > > > > From: inserram <inserram@> > > Subject: encopresis > > To: miralax > > Date: Friday, January 9, 2009, 6:16 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > HI > > > > I just posted a message under Hirschprungs' s Disease. Guest guest
What have you tried so far? Besides constipation, what other signs do you see? Dark circles under eyes, fatigue, developmental delays, 'chicken skin' on backs of arms? I'd start with Kid Calm -- it can't hurt. > > > > From: inserram <inserram@> > > Subject: encopresis > > To: miralax > > Date: Friday, January 9, 2009, 6:16 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > HI > > > > I just posted a message under Hirschprungs' s Disease.
