Guest guest
Biomedically speaking the best place to start is to get an appointment with your child to be evaluated by a dandr (DAN stands for Defeat Autism Now, through the Autism Research Institute) (if they have a long waiting list and don't want to wait months, start off with a phone consult before the initial mtg to get supplement recomendations). For a list of dandrs go to: http://www.autismwebsite.com/practitioners/us_lc.htm Also, readup at this website http://www.generationrescue.org/ be sure to click on " Begin Recovery " to get resources. Also, to hook up with a rescue angel in your state. This website is a good resource as well: http://www.talkaboutcuringautism.org/index.htm this website is a great resource...you can also purchase a great reference book through them called " Families with Autism Journey Guide... a starting point for parents facing autism " This book references everything from special education, dealing with insurance, to biomedical intervention (including diets, supplements, etc.). Some good books to read: Children with Starving Brains by Dr. JM Mcandless and Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma and Allergies The Groundbreaking Program for the 4-A Disorders Dr. A. Bock As a family, consider starting to go organic and green in your household (get rid of all chemical cleaners and go natural). Then consider going either the following diet for your child: gfcf (gluten/wheat free, casein/dairy free), feingold (preservative, dye free), and/or scd (specific carbohydrate diet) (which is good for treating candida/yeast overgrowth. Most supplements are purchased through kirkman labs. www.kirkmanlabs.com. But, you should consider waiting for recomendations from a dandr before starting. Other yahoo groups that are also helpful are: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/GFCFKids/messages http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/taca-usa/messages http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/abmd/messages Regarding Education: You need to get your child in a good ABA program in addition to early intervention. One good book that contains the programs that ABA therapists use is: " Behavioral Intervention for young children with autism " , a manual for parents and professionals. By Maurice, Green, and Luce. Hope this helps as a start. Others may have good resources as well. Best of luck, Budsmom, Rescue Angel :-) > > > My beautiful 2 1/2 yr old was just labeled PDD I don't know where to > begin > > any help appreciated > > >
Guest guest
Hi , I just wanted to welcome you to the group and say that we all understand the place you're at right now. I know things look overwhelming, but take it one step at a time and before you know it you'll be well on your way to healing your child. Start right now by removing casein from your child's diet (any dairy products). There are many good dairy substitutes, including hemp, rice and soy milk. Whichever you pick, begin by mixing this with your child's regular milk, until you're eventually giving more and more substitute and less and less dairy milk. There are also good yogurts (soy and coconut milk, etc), cheese substitutes (regular vegetarian cheese contains casein, so read those labels). Take a few weeks to make the switch from dairy and during that time research, knowing you've taken a positive step. Tacanow.org, 4-ahealing.com and autism.com are all great resources. I am so sorry to have you as a member of our "club". Kim PS if your child has a peanut allergy, avoid soy as they are closely related. Guest guest
Your child would most likely be eligible for early intervention services. Each state has an agency that should provide services. Once you get her enrolled, be sure to read up on Part C of IDEA. This is the section of federal law that covers early intervention. It's not too long or hard to read and will give you a good idea of what your child is entitled to (which is a program that meets her need, regardless of the agency's budget or staffing concerns) Kim From: buddybearsmom <buddybearsmom@ yahoo.com>Subject: Re: where do you startTo: mb12 valtrex@ yahoogroups. comDate: Wednesday, October 22, 2008, 10:58 PM Biomedically speaking the best place to start is to get an appointment with your child to be evaluated by a dandr (DAN stands for Defeat Autism Now, through the Autism Research Institute) (if they have a long waiting list and don't want to wait months, start off with a phone consult before the initial mtg to get supplement recomendations) . Guest guest
Hi , I'm really sorry to hear your child is sick. Everyone here knows your pain. We're here to help you recover your child. We've been at it for 14 months now. Here are some early interventions that helped to restore my child's language after 3 months (but, the we lost it again, but that's another story): 1. Easy therapies: a) Remove gluten, wheat, dairy, and artificial coloring. Bathing the child in 1 cup of epsom salt is easy to do, low-cost, and an effective detox. A teaspoon of baking soda to help stop dry skin c) Dr. Baker (see below) recommends Glutathione (the mother of all antioxidants). It smells horrible, but you can put it in lemonade and inject into the back of the mouth with a small syringe. The liposomal GSH is absorbed into the blood stream via the gut lining. It's almost like an IV. Warning - it might not be the best delivery mechanism if your child has high yeast. * Essential GSH - Liposomal Glutathione * http://www.nbnus.net/shopexd.asp?id=224 d) Also get the starter package: http://www.nbnus.net/ e) Do all this while you're waiting to find and get an appointment with a DAN! doc. 2. Stop giving your child vaccine boosters and flu shots. At least until you do an immunology workup. 3. Look into hard chamber Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). This has healed my son's gut *much faster than any other therapy. It can also help with medicine delivery, up-regulate glutathione, relieve oxidative stress, and increase systemic stem cell production by 800%. 4. To amplify the others' recommendations to find a DAN! doctor: a) Get with one that *has recovered a child from autism*. There is a 3 year waiting list for McCarthy's doctor, Jerry Kartzinel, M.D., but other doctors like Dr. Woeller in California had his first autism recovery case 10 years ago. Experience really counts. The DAN! does *not have to be in your local area, either. We chose a doctor in California, but we live in Virginia. This works well. Only one in-office visit per year is required. 5. Search this newgroup starting at the beginning (i found answers from posts in 2005!. Look for the one's written by Stan Kurtz, who's son Ethan recovered. 6. Check out this reference: a) This book is a must-have. It has the latest and greatest findings from doctors who are at the cutting edge of the biomedical movement. Dr. Baker founded the the DAN! program. 2007 Supplement - Autism: Effective Biomedical Treatments (Have We Done Everything We Can for This Child? Individuality In An Epidemic) You can find a link to it here: http://store.autism.com/ http://www.stankurtz.com/ c) http://www.generationrescue.org/ d) http://www.autism.com/video/allvideos.htm (getting started videos) d) http://www.autism.com/ari/rimland/rimlandtime.htm e) search youtube for Dr. Woeller 7. Welcome to the biomedical movement. " The Biomedical Movement is a parent-driven crusade that is based on evidence that Autism is a treatable disease, indeed Autism is reversible.[1][2][3] Key opponents of the Biomedical Movement include government organizations, large pharmaceutical corporations, and mainstream medical professionals who generally dismiss parental concerns. Guest guest
I actually want to throw a warning out on the threelac, if you have yeast issues or PANDAS avoid threelac as it has strep lines in it, also believe it's not cf, the OLE will address bacteria issues but would have to be used in big numbers to address the strep lines in the threelac. where if you use a different one like therabotic detox support you wouldn't Recovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwisheshttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 Re: where do you start first and foremost....PRAY!!1.
