Guest guest
That's a rhinoplasty, not a septoplasty? That seems unusual to me, I thought a rhinoplasty was used only for cosmetic purposes, I guess not. I had a septoplasty done a long time ago when I had sinus infections that wouldn't quit... they also " cauterized the turbinates " . The surgery itself was a piece of cake, but the recovery was awful. They packed my nose full of stuff, so I could hardly swallow for about ten days. I had NO IDEA they could put SO MUCH STUFF up my nose. Getting it pulled out was like watching the clown car at the circus. But on the plus side, it did get rid of the infection. Hi all, thought I would drop a quick note i'm having a Rhinoplasty plus several other procedures to correct the ongoing sinus infections i am currently getting, My question is is it the right thing to do having more surgery as the other 3 surgery's have not gained anything other then more pain and more infections. Is it possible I am having Pre op jitters and it will pass, Any top tips for the surgery day it self??? Please help scared any thing i need to do for my asthma? or ask about From Miss Donna-marie rachel Griffiths UK south wales
Guest guest
Hi Donna- If it were me, I would wait. With three surgeries already that have only caused more pain and infection. I would look for other options. The more scar tissue that builds up also causes more problems. I know first hand I have had 2 sinus surgeries. Have you tried alternative health therapies for your asthma and sinus infections? I have asthma all my life and have finally got it under control without meds. My sinus infections are gone and I have never been healthier. Guest guest
I didn't know they did that stuff for sinus infections. I have had sinus infections since I worked in a steel mill years ago. The only thing that helps me is Tylenol sinus pills over the counter. The red yellow and green box. It may take a day or two if it is really bad, but, they are great for the pain and everything. I also use Fluticasone, which generic for flonase at the first sign of a head cole of sinus infection. If this doesn't work which is rare, then I go to the dr. But, I do all kinds of stuff that works. I have figured out that when you have a head cold or sinus infection, your sinus openings in the front of your face usually all around the eyes above, and under, are cold inside. I run my hairdryer over my face in that general area. Not right on it. I lower it about two feet away from my face, and slowly bring it forward, until it is just comfortable, and then blow it for a while on that area. All around the eyes. Close your eyes. Do that a few times a day. For maybe half a minute or so. Then I use those woolen headbands that you buy to wear over your ears and forhead in the winter. I know it looks funny, but, in the air-conditioning it works great, in the house. Just put it over your forehead, over the area above your eyes. Believe me it works. It keeps your sinuses warm. I don't wear it when other people are in my home just family and very close friends. LOL. I usually rip it off if someone knocks on the door. It does look silly, but, hey, it works. I had my sinuses drained years ago, and it was one of the most painful things I have ever endured, and I will not go that way anymore. Just a few tips. By the way I wear those headbands in the winter, and they are great. I hope things go well for you. willothewispl@.... Guest guest
If they're planning to correct your deviated septum, the surgery might be a good idea. That's what finally fixed my sinus infection all those years ago... I'd spent six months with one, nothing would get rid of it. My surgery left me with a hole clear through my septum, though, and that's given me a lifetime of explaining, to EVERY doctor who's about to look up my nose, that NO, I do NOT snort ANYTHING, and have not ever done so, that hole is from my septoplasty. I learned that one the hard way! Thanks ,yes I have tried almost everything possible here in the UK I also have a Deviated Spectrum the bone in middle of the nose which is influancing my repeated weird breathing pattern, Its also though my adnoids have grown back from all recurring infections. Guest guest
Hi woman. I am late getting this. I have been off line for a few days. I don't know anything about sinus surgeries, so I'm afraid I can't give any advice. Just know that I am thinking of you. I hope you get some relief.MadelineTo: asthma Sent: Mon, September 27, 2010 4:38:57 PMSubject: need advice surgery Thursday Hi all, thought I would drop a quick note i'm having a Rhinoplasty plus several other procedures to correct the ongoing sinus infections i am currently getting,My question is is it the right thing to do having more surgery as the other 3 surgery's have not gained anything other then more pain and more infections. Is it possible I am having Pre op jitters and it will pass, Any top tips for the surgery day it self???
