Guest guest
Hey I know believe me. That's another reason I stayed put yesterday, because I didn't want the respiratory problems. I have a sick granddaughter today. Strep is going around here and she may have picked it up. She's been running a temp since last night and has a very red swollen throat. Her mommy will probably have to take her to the ER later and get her looked at. A dose of motrin usually works a few hours then the temp goes right back up. We'll see how things go with her but now I have something else to worry about catching too. Oh well, come with the territory of having little ones in the house. I stayed home from school because I flat do not feel that great. I'm hanging in and my asthma is behaving but I just ache all over. I was warned that I may get achy and run a low temp so it's not unexpected. To: asthma Sent: Thu, September 30, 2010 10:00:25 AMSubject: Re: Re: Flu shot & H1N1... A good way to handle that to keep from getting stuck so much would be to have your appointments with the GP and endo set up about a week or so apart, then you have the results back by the time you go to the endo. Yeah, when I see my GP, she does that, but my endocrinologist wants to be able to discuss the results of my labs at our appointment, so we can decide if we're going to change anything and talk about what we're going to change and how to change it, so I need to have them done a week or so ahead of time. My doctor just does blood draws at my regular checkup times so I don't have to make extra trips. To: asthma Sent: Wed, September 29, 2010 2:38:13 PMSubject: Re: Re: Flu shot & H1N1... LOL thats crazy to have to make an appt for blood draws and shots! Well if your happy then its all good! I had to get labs drawn -- that's an appointment. They wanted me to have my blood pressure checked using their equipment -- I had to make an appointment for that, too. Next, they're going to have me make an appointment to make an appointment! The $6 is totally no big deal, and it'll count towards my out-of-pocket-maximum anyway, so I'll cheerfully pay it. My insurance plan is an awesome deal for me, once I reach that OOPM, everything in-network is covered at 100% for the rest of the plan year (goes to the end of June), and I'll hit that in about a week, so that's 9 months of completely paid medical care. And my medical care ain't cheap! WOW you have to make an appt to get your flu shot at your drs? most drs i know take walk ins for it, my family got ours last friday and was only there about 5 mins. Maybe because you have to stop off at the pharmacy anyway, but you have to make an appointment to see the doctor, and go out of your way to get there, maybe take time off from work... convenience can be worth paying for, for some people. For others, it makes more sense to go for the free one. I'm getting mine at work tomorrow, for $6. It would be free, but I have the high deductible insurance plan, and I haven't met my out-of-pocket maximum yet. We can have the flu jab done at pharmacies too. But if I were to have it, why would I pay £14 for it at a pharmacy when it's free at the doctors? Jenn Tha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Don't brand me, don't classify me, don't tell me what to wear. I'll be who I want to be, and I'm proud to be me.

Guest guest
I would like to know that too. I really don't think it is fair to have to take them both together! We should have the choice. And really, given the reactions some people have to H1N1 vaccine -- at it's worst, it can put you in the hospital on a respirator -- it's utterly moronic to contaminate all the flu vaccines with it. IMO. Have they really not left any flu vaccines free of H1N1? Ugh.
