I don't think they should combine them either.

I think it more or less depends on how good your immune system is and how bad of a case you get. For normal healthy people who are not immunosuppressed, then yeah probably one time and your done is more or less the norm...but start factoring in different issues and things change.

I got mine today. The pharmacist at my drugstore is trained to do them and he was great at it. Didn't hurt at all. So far, feeling fine. He said that whether the H1N1 continues to be added to the regular flu shot year after year will be determined by how many cases hit this year. If a good number crop up, it'll be in next year's shot too. To:

The H1N1 is combined with the flu shot this year and the pharmacist at my drug store said it depends on how many cases there are this year as to whether it will be there next year or not. He said it'll be similar to seasonal if it continues to be a problem. To: asthma Sent: Tue,

Maybe because you have to stop off at the pharmacy anyway, but you have to make an appointment to see the doctor, and go out of your way to get there, maybe take time off from work... convenience can be worth paying for, for some people.  For others, it makes more sense to go for the free one.

I'm getting mine at work tomorrow, for $6.  It would be free, but I have the high deductible insurance plan, and I haven't met my out-of-pocket maximum yet.

My insurance covered mine so it didn't matter where I got it. I would have only had to pay for it if I'd gotten it at the clinic at school as they don't directly file insurance there. Clinic visits are free to the students but we have to pay for vaccinations and such. Then I could have filed the insurance form for reimbursement but that's a pain in the arse hassle. So, just go get it at the pharmacy and don't worry about the cost. From:

Hey $6 isn't bad. At the pharmacy the shot is under $30 if you don't have insurance which isn't that bad either. The health department is on a sliding scale but their appointment times don't always go along with our schedules. I had to go get my glucose meter test strips and lancets yesterday so I just did it all in one trip. To:

, it works differently here. We don't have medical insurance as we don't need it. Therefore, if I paid £14 at a pharmacy, I wouldn't be able to claim it back. It's a 10 min walk to my doctors from homw, and it's a big practise so you rarely have to wait more than 5 days for an appointment - I did once but only because I requested a specific doctor - and getting an appointment outside of working hours is also fairly easy as they do Saturday mornings and late surgeries one night a week too. Some things can be combined, but other things can't.  And it's hard to predict what they'll combine and what they won't.  It's weird... but it's a full-service clinic, with the on-site lab, on-site x-ray, LOTS of doctors (which is handy when I have a situation that's too much of a crisis to wait for a week until my regular doc is available, but not enough to go to the ER), and is connected to one of the major hospitals in the area, so it's worth some silliness for the benefits.

And... it is a big place, with a LOT of doctors, and they serve a TON of patients.  If they allowed walk-ins for any old thing, they could really get slammed.  So I can see why they want to know who's coming and when.  It's not like it's two or three doctors taking care of a couple hundred patients.

It is understandable that one would need to make an appointment tohave a procedure done but can't you combine procedures and get more

than one at the same appointment.OraOn Wed, 29 Sep 2010 11:38:13 -0700 (PDT), carol caruso

Yep I'm a little familiar with the way it's done over there. Sometimes I think it would be nice if that's how it were done here but so many people think that government run health care is socialism and don't want that. Plus people don't want to pay the taxes required for what services we do have around here without throwing a big fit. Too much money is being wasted here and that really needs to change. From: A Hill

A good way to handle that to keep from getting stuck so much would be to have your appointments with the GP and endo set up about a week or so apart, then you have the results back by the time you go to the endo. Yeah, when I see my GP, she does that, but my endocrinologist wants to be able to discuss the results of my labs at our appointment, so we can decide if we're going to change anything and talk about what we're going to change and how to change it, so I need to have them done a week or so ahead of time.

My doctor just does blood draws at my regular checkup times so I don't have to make extra trips.

LOL, I have to make an appoinment for EVERYTHING at my doc's office. I had to get labs drawn -- that's an appointment. They wanted me to have my blood pressure checked using their equipment -- I had to make an appointment for that, too. Next, they're going to have me make an appointment to make an appointment! ;)

The $6 is totally no big deal, and it'll count towards my out-of-pocket-maximum anyway, so I'll cheerfully pay it. My insurance plan is an awesome deal for me, once I reach that OOPM, everything in-network is covered at 100% for the rest of the plan year (goes to the end of June), and I'll hit that in about a week, so that's 9 months of completely paid medical care. And my medical care ain't cheap!

Well, It took it a couple days but this combo shot is kicking my butt today. I stayed home from school because I flat do not feel that great. I'm hanging in and my asthma is behaving but I just ache all over. I was warned that I may get achy and run a low temp so it's not unexpected. Be careful lady. Get plenty of rest and feel better, and don't ignore ANY respiratory symptoms. Hugs.MadelineTo: asthma Sent: Thu, September 30, 2010 10:07:06 AMSubject: Re: Re: Flu shot &
