Guest guest
What?!!!! That's ridiculous. I thought the H1N1 shot was a one-time thing, not a seasonal thing. Considering how I'm still battling the side effects of that too-quickly-made and too-poorly-tested vaccine, I guess I won't be getting a flu shot this year. Great. Flu shot & H1N1... Guest guest
It would have been last year if they couldve made enough in time but they didnt have enough heads up and most of the predicted seasonal flu shots were already made. Guest guest
I wondered if they were just trying to use up all that stuff they made last year when H1N1 was declared and pandemic... If you have had a prior reaction to swine flu vaccination, according to the CDC (Center for Disease Control in the US), you shouldn't have this new vaccine. Patient who are immunocompromised run the risk of getting from the live virus.
Guest guest
My doctor asked me if I wanted the flu shot last time and I told him no. That was really a switch for him because always before he would urge me to get it. This time he agreed without a blink. Guest guest
You all do realize the flu shot changes every season right? H1N1 really wasnt all that different...except that it had to be made its own shot. Guest guest
I didn't bother with teh swine flu vaccine. I'd been contemplating it, but really wasn't sure as I blame teh flu vaccine from the year before for making my asthma worse.I had something last year which the nurse did say sounded very much like it could have been swine flu (it went round the school I was teaching in at the time, and the speed at whcih the kids were becoming ill did fit with swine flu - they could be right as rain at registration, and going home ill by break), though it was never 'official', as I didn't go in when I was ill, so therefore wasn't tested. My peak flows have never been quite as high as they were before, but they are still good, and it didn't really affect me too badly, no more than a bad cold.JennTha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Guest guest
And it also varies in different countries. We apparently have the vaccination that was used in Canada the previous year - I'm assuming that we have the strains of flu that Canada had the previous year! So I'm guessing, therefore, tha if you were to have the flu jab then come over here, you wouldn't be fully immunised (though presumably most strains would be similar)JennTha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Guest guest
My husband was hospitalized with pneumonia and has permanant loss of 1/3 right lung function. he is better now and he just got the flu shot Tuesday and has not had any problems with his asthma/copd. his arm was sore for a few days but that is it. dh and myself(also have asthma) got the shot last year without any problems. Im not promoting the shot one way or the other..I still am struggling with having my 19 yr old get it...she does well with reg. flu shot but she has severe allergies that also cause hives and I am worry about this for her. on the same note she did not get the H1N1 shot last year and did get the swine flu. does anyone know if you become immune to the swine flu if you have had it? its a hard decision to make...I just wish they had seperate shots and not force a combined one on everyone..it just isnt right. jean > > I heard a month ago they were going to be combined, but, who knows? Has anyone > here with asthma had the H1N1 flu shot, and how did you fare with it?
