Guest guest
I was asked the same thing one time after big time surgery. I wondered why such a question? It was to make sure the bowel was working again. That is one of the signs they look for besides the kidneys having been shut down during surgery. And, that all vitals and enzymes are normal. If the whole system is running smoothly, then a person is allowed to go home. Guest guest
Jayn, that is fantastic news and long may it continue!! your windy problem is not uncommon with gynie ops but your right it can get embarrassing. It's like I always say though 'wherever you may be let your wind blow free!!' Love to you .xx Hello to all Just wanted to give all of you an update on my short journey with cancer. Yesterday I was one week post op with no problems!!! The surgery went very well, standing 4 hours after surgery, with some help. The doctor saw no cancer at the time of surgery and the pathology report came back negative for cancer, so I am now 99% cured, I will take that. I lived on ice chips for 5 days. Seems one can't have anything except that until gas has been expelled! Now I ask you " who can do that on demand, except a man " ? So nothing, no liquids of anykind, which after so long really doesn't matter. It was such a big thing on the floor until everyone you saw ask the same question; " have you f------ yet? " Oh well, if I have offended anyone I am sorry. I just want those of you who prayed and I know there were many of you, to please join me in Praising the One who deserves all the Glory. I know without a doubt that prayers were heard on my behalf and answered. I don't know how people without Him every gets thru stuff. I serve a Great and Wonderful God who loves His children and wants to be ask for what we need, even wants sometimes. I can never Praise Him enough. We have been back home since this past Tues. and everything is going very well. Our youngest came up on Wed and is staying until tomorrow. A friend will come in on Sunday and stay until Tues, then the oldest daughter will be here until???? By then Wayne and I should be ok to do what ever is necessary. Ruth did her usual stuff while we were gone. Gave the day sitter and my sister at night a hard time, I think next time I will put her in a AL place and let them deal with it. It isn't fair for family members and friends to have to put up with garbage. Love in Christ to all of you Jayn in S GA

Guest guest
Dear Sara, Welcome to our group. I just want you to know that you made the right decision by joining this group. You have been experiencing some rough times with the death of your Dad and the illness of your stepmom. Please let us help support you during these trying times. Hugs, Gerry Wilmington, De. Daughter and caregiver of Dick Deverll, who died 9/11/05 after a more than 4 yr. battle withLBD. Hello to all My name is Sara and I take care of my stepmom. She's in a nursing home now and I guess you could say she's in end stages of Lewys. Her new dr doesn't know anything about Lewys and keeps asking me how I know!!! I diagnosed her after much internet and book research. It's such a shame my father wasn't able to get good drs for her when she needed them most these past few years. He did the best he could...I took care of him until he passed last January. He did himself in taking care of my stepmom. It was a very hard, sad few months from November to February. The hardest part awaits me, I'm remembering all the bad times....I'm really going to DREAD these winter months especially if my stepmom dies....I think it will be in the next six months. But I'm glad I've found this group at least and knowing more about Lewys REALLY is great. Sara
Guest guest
Sara, a warm hug, and be assured you are among friends. You are one smart woman to have studied and learned about this Dementia, on your own, yet! Many doctors don't know about it. I too, am very thankful for this list. There is so much love and help. I have learned a great deal already, and feel so accepted. I am glad that you are with us, but not for the reason you have to be. Please let us know what things you have observed in your Step-Mom for the benefit of those of us still in the early stage of the Dementia. I for one, will appreciate it no end. Love a bunch, Imogene Caregiver for my True Texas Gentleman husband of 35 years. He has LBD with Parkinsonism. Update: on antidepressant Celexa, 20mg (still teary, but not as weepy); as of 4/21 on Exelon (a/o 6/28 began following the suggested dosage for LBD); as of 7/1 went on ALA (200 mg) and B1. Guest guest
Amen to the ocean!! I fished with my father for nearly 6 full years. He was a commercial fisherman with thousands of yards of nets and several boats. It was a way of life I would have followed had I been a boy. That's life. Have a wonderful time. Guest guest
Thanks for all the warm welcomes. My father kept a journal. I shall post it and I will try to update it. That's hard....when we had to move her out of the home she went down hill very quickly. I'm sure that would have happened anyway. I'll work on this in the next week. I'm going to The Outer Banks of NC this weekend with my son. I feel like this will be a cleansing trip...I love the ocean, the breeze and the solitude. Thank You, Sara
