The main thing/side affect that I can recall at the moment is some children experience some hyperness in some. Im suspecting this is the blood thinning affect. But other than that Im thinking it has helped with constipation in some. I better go read up on it befor I say much more. I know there are some who use it here and hopefully well inform us more on it. I have contenplated for so long on using for my son. I have read that it has done good things for mental impaired children, but Im just not at a point of trying yet(I think I said this a year ago also...giggles). I think my learinous with fish oils is the mercury issues. We need to find a good true organic company that sells it! I have a bottle in the fridge, but honestly havent tried it yet(not organic, so it well probably never get opened)! In the archives at that group there are some messages to that effect. I am pretty sure she gave some advice (e.g., that she needed to address other issues for her kids with other supps, then reintroduced CLO...?), too. I dont see how it could constipate, unless it affects motility somehow, but even then that is unlikely or due to the mercury issues(now that can affect the gi). A good start would be to just put "cod liver oil constipation" in the search engines and tons of info comes up on the benefits of helping and preventing constipation. Guest guest Posted January 10, 2009 Report Share Posted January 10, 2009 From what I have read -- CLO usually has no effect or a slight loosening effect, but some people say it has a constipating effect. For my son it seemed to have a slight loosening effect. For some time now we've been taking the fermented CLO from Green Pastures. It has been tested for mercury and I tend to trust it, but I give it with a chlorella tablet or two just in case. On a related note, lately I have been using Minami EFA instead of Nordic naturals. I was told a couple of years ago that I have gallstones also and that they was already calcifide(sp). This was from an ultrasound for something else when these was seen. I told the technician I didnt feel them at all and he said I well. To date I havent felt any pain from them. Anyways he said the only way was surgery. Well I just dont have much time for that with my sons medical for now(hopefully I can hold out until his surgries are all done). So I researched on natural ways to get rid of them and came accross info on lemon juice and olive oil being able to get them out. But also read that once calcified this could be a problem in using beings they can break up and cause blockage or something of that sort. So I havent tried yet, not sure if I even well. Do you know if yours are calcified yet? If not, maybe mention this lemon/olive oil to your naturalpath! As far as the constipation I do know that some use enzymes as part of there supplement protocol to thicken stools that are to loose. Im not sure why or understand the reason behind this to much beings enzymes break particles up. Beings you need these supplements have you considered adding something else such as aloe juice etc. to just help loosen the stools? Guest guest Posted January 10, 2009 Report Share Posted January 10, 2009 well, my conventional gi doc. wants the gallbladder to come out just because of one stone, because it can move and block the bile ducts and can cause pancreatitis which i had 6 years ago. but i want to try natural alternatives first before surgery because the gallbladder is a necessary organ although the typical doctors say otherwise. she has not recommended the olive oil treatments but i'm using castor oil on wool with a hot water bottle on top at night. i'm not sure if it is calcified, they didn't tell me but now you have me worried ! Couldnt get any one to test him(I suspect it was because the vac subject is avoided at all cost). I studied his blood works/tests and this was what I thought was going on. We actually had a doctor say to medicate him for psych, but I knew it was pain from his behaivor outrages(he is non verbal and I knew this was his way of telling me he was in pain)! He no longer does this and it tares me apart everytime I think he had to go through that. My prayers are with you that you dont go through that again!
