Heart racing...I'm scared

Val,

Woke up this morning and my heart was racing...pulse was 136

(my " normal " pulse these days is 100). I switched out an additional

grain of Armour yesterday for Cytomel...so I took 1 1/4 grains

Armour and 75mcg Cytomel. Yesterday was the first time I took a

nighttime dose (slept great).

I think my adrenals must be stressed...I had a really tough day

yesterday...woke up and walked on the treadmill 30 minutes, then

cleaned my house, then did grocery shopping, then prepared food for

guests coming over, then when the guests were over drank too much

wine and am now probably hungover (headache, shaky, dry mouth). I

know you're not supposed to drink with weak adrenals, and on top of

all the uncommon activity yesterday, plus the increase in Cytomel,

I'm thinking maybe this high pulse this morning is adrenal

stress...would you agree? I take 35mg HC, dosed 10mg wakeup, 10mg

3hours later, 5mg 3hours later, 5mg 3hours later then 5mg at

bedtime. Yesterday in the middle of cleaning my eyes started to

black over...like I was going to faint, except I didn't FEEL faint,

it was just the eyes thing...so I took an extra 10 mg HC with my

second dose of the day. Rest of the day felt fine.

I'm freaking out...keep having panic attacks, because I need so

badly for Cytomel to work for me...haven't felt good in 8 years

now...do you think this high pulse could be adrenal stress, and if

so, what would you suggest I do? I took my 10mg when I woke up, but

I didn't want to take more and shut down my adrenals...I don't

really know how to stress dose or how much to take...especially

since my normal dose is already 35mg and I'm not sure how much

higher I can/should go!

Sorry for the long message, I wanted to make sure you had all the

info and I am freaking out and I'm just wordy in general anyway.

Thanks so much,

Teressa

Sorry to bother you again, Val. I'm headed for an emotional

meltdown. Pulse is still up to 136...tried laying down to rest and

could just feel my whole body twitching with each heartbeat. So far

today, I've taken normal HC dosing (20mg so far...10 at wakeup and

10 3 hours later) and my normal morning dose of thyroid meds (1 1/4

grains Armour, 25mcg cytomel). I haven't yet taken my 1pm Cytomel

dose. My temp is 98.6 (and that might be a little elevated because

I had been walking around before I took that temp). I've already

had 1/2 teaspoon sea salt in water and am working on a second

serving of 1/2 teaspoon.

I was thinking maybe this is due to the RT3 (and adrenal

stress)...since January my heart rate has steadily been getting

higher and I have noticed that after more strenuous activity, my

heart rate will stay high for several hours before finally calming

down. I was wondering if maybe tomorrow I should or could just cut

out the rest of the Armour, and just take the 75 mcg Cytomel I'm up

to now? I noticed on this forum there are several people who

switched " cold turkey " from Armour to Cytomel, but I don't know if

you would recommend this or not. Yesterday I decreased the Armour

from 2 1/2 grains down to 1 1/4 grains...not sure how stressful it

would be on the adrenals to now just cut it completely and stay at

the current 75 mcg Cytomel, to remove that last T4 that I'm putting

into my body? What are your thoughts?

I'm sorry, I'm just so scared about this...

Thanks,

Teressa

Ok, thanks again for being there, Val, and for the advice. Man, it's

just one step forward and 2 back with this thyroid thing, isn't it?

Quick update, Val...I was having the worst panic attacks yesterday

thinking that maybe T3 wasn't going to work for me, either. It was a

very scary day, but I wanted you to know it helped SO MUCH to be able

to write to you and hear back your thoughts.

That being said, I ended up not following your advice...LOL. I was so

worried about having to start over again on the T3 that I thought I

would take my second dose of Cytomel and see what happened to my heart

rate. It remained the same...about 126 throughout the afternoon. I

fell asleep in the recliner and when I woke up, my heart rate had gone

down to 106.

I think the activity I had gone through, and the alcohol, from the day

before really stressed out my adrenals. I think my panicking and

freaking out about the heart rate only made matters worse. I did take

a third dose of Cytomel, but instead of the 25mcg at night I took on

Saturday, I took just 12.5mcg. I think I probably could have gone for

the full 25mcg, but I figured since my adrenals were such a mess, I'd

play it safer with the lower dose and increase by another 12.5mcg next

week. The good thing is that this is the last week I'll be taking

Armour, so maybe things will calm down a bit with my adrenals.

So, after what I thought would be a major roadblock, I'm back on track

today. Feeling very tired after the stress of the last few days, but

I'm drinking my sea salt water and trying to take things easy and not

switch up anything for a while.

Thanks so much for your help...even if I didn't do what you had

suggested, it's really by reading all of your advice and

recommendations on this site that I'd even be able to consider I'd be

ok trying what I did.
