Guest guest
are you HYPOT and your doctors did not even mention there was a correlation of FM in hypot population (And Vice versa??) what Thyroid RX/dosage were you on when your FM started and what rx/dosage were you on now that yoru Fibromyaliga has disappeared?? -Carol > > Hello All- > > I wanted to share my experience with the high dosage of vitamin D. Last year I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia due to severe pain & fatigue, mostly in the backs of my legs and upper neck and shoulders. At that time, I was given a prescription for an anti-depressant and two different narcotic pain medications. I went home very upset at the diagnosis and also that I was given pain medicine and just sent home to deal with it. > > Long story short, I never began the pain meds and started looking for a new doctor. Finally found a specialist and one of the first things he did was test my Vitamin D levels. My levels were very low. He started me on Photerol 50 by advanced medical labs. For the first 6 weeks I took two 50,000 IU capsules per week. After that I began taking just one per week. I am a very different person than I was just a year ago. I have lost 20lbs, I attend the gym at least 4 times per week. I just finished my first half marathon a couple of weeks ago. > > Vitamin D changed my life completely! > > Hope this helps!! > > Sandy >
Guest guest
Thanks for sharing that Sandy! It gives me a little more hope! Guest guest
I am hypo- with Hashi " s. No, it was never mentioned to me that there might be a correlation between the Fibromyalgia and my thyroid. At the time of diagnosis I was on a Bio-Identical thyroid med, can't remember the dosage, but one of the other changes made by the specialist at that time was to move me back to synthetic thyroid meds. I now take .88 of levoxyll and .5 of cytomel. The only other change was my doctor increased my Vitamin C intake a great deal as well. > > > > Hello All- > > > > I wanted to share my experience with the high dosage of vitamin D. Guest guest
Hi Sandy, Sometimes we have to be our own advocate and learn about our autoimmune disease that badly affects our thyroid function. Here are a couple links you may appreciate regarding hyoT/FM. http://thyroid.about.com/cs/fibromyalgiacfs/a/fibrothyroid.htm http://www.drlowe.com/QandA/askdrlowe/fmshypot.htm Some scientists believe that FM is what happens when hypoT is left untreated or is undertreated. Our autonomic nervous system releases hormones that affect how we react to stress and these hormones become disregulated affecting the perception of pain. I was also diagnosed with FM after being bedridden from severe leg, ankle and foot pain while on synthetic T4 only drugs. Our bodies do in fact need T3 especially for brain and joint functions. Vitamin C helps support adrenal functions and is best taken with bioflavanoids to be fully utilized by the body. Vitamin C is essential for the production of adrenal steroid hormones, it increases overall adrenal function and stimulates the immune system. I take at least 1,000 mgs daily, still. Guest guest
Hi Steph, The brand I have been taking is - Vitamin C with Quercetin and Citrus Bioflavonoids (90 Vegetarian Capsules) by Integrative Therapeutics. I got them at: http://www.naturalhealthyconcepts.com/vitamin-c-quercetin-citrus-bioflavonoids-IT90-p-integrative-therapeutics.html The price is almost half off right now but don't know for how long, so I stocked up. We are all well here - knock on wood - as some awful cold/flu has been going around. The only real stress comes from my daughter with Graves'/Hashis being in a car accident in May, she broke her left arm so all her summer plans had to go to the wayside. Her arm was hanging in a U shape and she had to have major surgery to put it back together with stainless steel plates and screws. Also, her two top front teeth had to have root canals and crowns as the air bag knocked her arm into her mouth and broke off or cracked her teeth up into the gums/roots. Not a fun time, but things are looking up now. I hope all is good with you. Well wishes,~Bj > > > > >> > > > > Hello All-> > > > >> > > > > I wanted to share my experience with the high dosage of vitamin D.> > Last year I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia due to severe pain & fatigue,> > mostly in the backs of my legs and upper neck and shoulders. Guest guest
Someone near me cannot take even 200 IU a day without feeling awful. Makes no difference what form. With food or without. I can knock back 5000 at a time with no short-term effects apparent - simply feeling better over the long haul. Rod > > Does anyone else have trouble taking Vitamin D. I have tried sublingqual, gel, drops etc. Ranging from 1000 - 5000. (my dr wanted me to take 50 thousand) When I take it I feel like my thyroid just swells up. I just feel unwell. Also get headaches. My last reading six month ago was 26. I know Vitamin D is important. Just can't seem to find the right dose. Frustrated:( > > I do fine with my monthly B12 shots. > > Wondering if others have similar issues with D? > > _,_._,___ >

Guest guest
I don't have a problem taking it - it just doesn't seem to raise my vitamin D levels much. I was taking about 5000 to 7000 i.u.s per day and had just come out of a southern summer when I tested low for vitamin D. If I'm still low next time I'm going to ask for the injection - which I didn't want because of the additives in the injections but I also want to get my levels up. I'm taking just over 10000 i.u.s per day now. Does anyone else have trouble taking Vitamin D. I have tried sublingqual, gel, drops etc. Ranging from 1000 - 5000.
