Hi Sandy,

Sometimes we have to be our own advocate and learn about our autoimmune disease that badly affects our thyroid function. Here are a couple links you may appreciate regarding hyoT/FM.

http://thyroid.about.com/cs/fibromyalgiacfs/a/fibrothyroid.htm

http://www.drlowe.com/QandA/askdrlowe/fmshypot.htm

Some scientists believe that FM is what happens when hypoT is left untreated or is undertreated. Our autonomic nervous system releases hormones that affect how we react to stress and these hormones become disregulated affecting the perception of pain.

I was also diagnosed with FM after being bedridden from severe leg, ankle and foot pain while on synthetic T4 only drugs. Our bodies do in fact need T3 especially for brain and joint functions.

Vitamin C helps support adrenal functions and is best taken with bioflavanoids to be fully utilized by the body. Vitamin C is essential for the production of adrenal steroid hormones, it increases overall adrenal function and stimulates the immune system. I take at least 1,000 mgs daily, still.

Last year I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia due to severe pain & fatigue, mostly in the backs of my legs and upper neck and shoulders. At that time, I was given a prescription for an anti-depressant and two different narcotic pain medications. I went home very upset at the diagnosis and also that I was given pain medicine and just sent home to deal with it.

My levels were very low. He started me on Photerol 50 by advanced medical labs. For the first 6 weeks I took two 50,000 IU capsules per week. After that I began taking just one per week. I am a very different person than I was just a year ago. I have lost 20lbs, I attend the gym at least 4 times per week. I just finished my first half marathon a couple of weeks ago.

Hey Bj,

What type/brand of bioflavanoids do you take? I'm trying to increase my intake of vitamin C for my adrenals and I'm just learning that it's better absorbed when taken with bioflavanoids. (I love learning.)

Would you mind sharing?

Thanks! Hope you are well!

Steph

Good grief Bj!!! Your poor daughter! I'm glad things are starting to look up though. That must be an immense relief!

I just finished a 14 day triple drug treatment for my GI parasites. Not. Fun. At. All. I thought I was going to lose my mind! I've been off the treatment for over a week now and though I still have really rough days (must be detoxing still), I can see some gradual improvement. I'll be retesting to see if the infections are clear in a couple more weeks. Think I need to get some Nystatin though--my tongue is grey :(

Also, I'm getting a second opinion about a possible Lyme's diagnosis. I got indefinite results from IgeneX and a CD57 count of 90. I've got one doc who just wants me to go gung-ho on the antibiotics as she thinks I probably have chronic Lyme's, but she's not positive. I am just not convinced yet. So I'm getting a second opinion next week. Siiiigghh..... What a long, hard road this is!

Thanks for all your input on this forum. I always appreciate what you have to say and the way you say it.

Warm Regards,

Steph

Hi Steph,

The brand I have been taking is - Vitamin C with Quercetin and Citrus Bioflavonoids (90 Vegetarian Capsules) by Integrative Therapeutics.

I got them at: http://www.naturalhealthyconcepts.com/vitamin-c-quercetin-citrus-bioflavonoids-IT90-p-integrative-therapeutics.html

The price is almost half off right now but don't know for how long, so I stocked up.

We are all well here - knock on wood - as some awful cold/flu has been going around.  The only real stress comes from my daughter with Graves'/Hashis being in a car accident in May, she broke her left arm so all her summer plans had to go to the wayside.  Her arm was hanging in a U shape and she had to have major surgery to put it back together with stainless steel plates and screws.  Also, her two top front teeth had to have root canals and crowns as the air bag knocked her arm into her mouth and broke off or cracked her teeth up into the gums/roots.   Not a fun time, but things are looking up now.  I hope all is good with you.

Well wishes,~Bj
