I know Sharon has been keeping you updated. It turned out that after I brought Jim to ER on the weekend, Sunday, that he was home, four days later on Valentine's Day at the nursing home, he was showing signs of weakness and spiked a high fever and wheezing and coughing and not able to keep his head up. They were doing a Valentine Luncheon for the residence at the nursing home, so after work I swung by to join Jim, only to find out that they had called the paramedics and were preparing him to go to ER. In ER, it was a 15 hour stay, they were overwhelmed with people and no rooms, so Jim was on a gurney in a hallway with many other patients waiting for a room for over 7 hours. They couldn't transfer to other hospitals in the area, because they were having the same problems. Jim finally got a room, it was another 8 hours of testing again, since he had been there only 4 days ago. It turned out he had bronchial pneumonia and from exhaustion, I caught Acute Bronchitis. I am telling you, it threw me for a loop and every muscle ached and I spiked a fever and I could not get comfortable for two nights, I was so restless tossing and turning trying to find a comfortable position. I was so weak, when I stood up, I would just fall back on the bed and sleep. I didn't have the energy to prepare the simplest meal. For 3 days all I had was cups of tea and a toasted bagel one day. Finally, on the 4th day I mustered up a little energy and made it out the door to go to the grocery store in the pouring down rain to buy some chicken soup, saltine crackers and some pineapple chunks and I stopped in a drugstore and asked a pharmacist what I could take for my horrible congestion and cough and she suggested MucinexDM and today, I am a whole new person. I woke up with energy and cleaned the house after laying around in it for 4 days and did some laundry and aired the house of all the yucky germs and wiped everything down with Lysol and went to visit Jim and he is doing fine, but still has the nasty congestion, but looking a lot better. He has lost weight in the amount of time that I have not been with him, I think it is from dehydration, so I have to work on getting him back to himself. I think we're going to make it! Bronchial Pneumonia and Bronchitis is going around the nursing home. It is how Jim and I caught it. Jim is on breathing treatments, Albuterol with a nebulizer and it is helping to break up all the congestion in his chest. He sneezed up a wad today when I put that mask on his nose. Lovely sight clinging to the mask. LOL I am just glad to see it is coming loose. It's great to be back!.................Jan ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing.
