Guest guest
Hi Becky, Welcome to the group. These people are the best of the best. They have been through it all and have much info to share with us who are just beginning our journey with dementia diseases. Wow it sure sounds like you have a lot on your plate. It sounds like you are going above and beyond the call of duty. Just becareful to take care of you too! from Ontario is right, you need some help dealing with your MIL (mother-in-law). When my FIL (father-in-law) came home from the NH (nursing home) I asked the social worker there about getting help for my MIL to deal with my FIL's weakened condition. I ended up helping out myself, but I did call a hospice here in Arizona and the lady was very helpful and gave me some organizations to call. Also their doctor has a social worker on call and she assisted us in getting him some therapy twice a week. She was also able to answer a lot of our questions concerning the future. Not that it helped any, but at least we know what to expect from the insurance company. I haven't been in this cycle very long, so I really don't know much but I do know that there are organizations out there that can help you and sometimes they are not easy to find. I asked this group and several of my friends and most times they knew someone that had experienced what we were facing. And if you can find someone that knows the system in your area that's even better. I have been blessed with one such person, but I had to dig deep to find him. I also agree with on the depression issue. I would go to her doctor and see what they can suggest. Hopefully she has a doctor that will listen to you. Please know that you are in my prayers. You have come to right place. Like I said before this group is awesome. I believe there to be several angels here and count myself blessed to be a part of it. Take care. Tori FIL dx 1/06, saw signs from 2004, kidney failure 2/06, nh 3/06 for rehab, home 3/06 insurance refused to pay for a longer stay! (losers), has fallen 4 times with no major injuries, currently FIL driving MIL crazy with his childlike behavior, to me he is the sweetest man ever and I am blessed to be able to help care for him! My dad is having cataract surgery and they are planning on giving him vercet (not sure of spelling). Just wondering if anyone knows if this would be considered to be something that would make the alzheimers worse or speed up the symptoms? Kathy Welcome to LBDcaregivers.
