Guest guest
Hi, Everyone - Just have a quick question. My son and I are both on disability, but I have SSI (Medicaid) and he has Medicaid and Medicare. I was so sure that he would be able to go to TCI with Medicare, but both insurance companies said no, that there are no out-of-state benefits. Is it just Pennsylvania? I've talked to so many people who have gone on Medicare. How can so many people afford to go there? My heart is breaking for my son. He's been sick all his life, and didn't ever want surgery, and now he's changed his mind and finds that he can't get there. We don't understand. Guest guest
Good morning, All In Pennsylvania, you should be able to opt into a MediGap plan which will allow you to go out of state. It's more expensive than other supplementals, but it's worth it. It covered everything at TCI for me with no complications and even paid all the deductables. Rules are different from state to state, but in PA, it's a little easier to transition into the MediGap than other states. Like I said, it's expensive and I had to sacrifice each month, but for me it was a better choice than coming home from surgery with a giant bill. I used Highmark and they were sooooooo helpful when I first looked into this option. Their number is 1- Hope this helps. in Pittsburgh
