Wow... still learning so much! I am doing some reading on AF. So the three things you mentioned are key? Do the doctors normally test for these ( I am wondering if these will be on my test results~ sorry for being so ignorant on this new subject to me!)

I am wondering why the jump in thyroid disease? A lack of estrogen ( so many hysterectomies now because of diseases)? Our diet?

Subject: Re: medications and levelsTONS of us have felt liike that :) and on that low a dosage toobut that is not what is really going on tho:even normal Healthy people wouldn't go hypEr and feel dramatic hypER feelings taking 25 mcg of sinthroid :0however a lOT of us hypOt people have lost years of our life because our Doctors THought we were showing signs of HypERt AKA OVermedication, during the beginning phases of our HypOT RX trreatment..so they ignored all the thyroid literature that warns our DRs to assess us patients for "Adrenal Insufficiency" BEFORE starting us on thyroid Hormone RX! and when we call or see them and report symtpoms of 'hypErt' ?(on

less than 1.25-ISH :) grains of NTH OR less then 100mCG-ISH of sinthorid..)they DEcrease our Thryoid hormoen RX dosage and tell us that we are hypert now and /as the months pass and when we report even more symtposm ??they tell us they can't be caused by our Thryoid :)and the put a lot of folks on mood-drugs and other drugs for the Symptosm in body and brain and etc..years go by like that for many of us..till we learned the big 3 :)- thryoid AND thyroid hormoneS PHysiology - why ferritn and iron panels are important (Heme Metabolic pathways are cellular enzyme systems that do the real work of Making our Hormones like STeriod hormones and Thryoid hromoens) - 'Adrenal Fatiuge" (really the entire stress system)regroup and learn about and test for the above :)and you will be able to help your body handle the thryoid hormone rx that it needs.. -CarolPS regular doctors do NOT

know any of this stuff... especially endos..most of them are not even following the Prescribing_INformation for their beloved _Gold Standard_ T4-only RX drug called SYNTHROID.where the 12 page document from Abbott tells our doctors to test our FREE T3 blood test to see how well we are "Metabolizing" their T4-only RX :)-Carol>> ,  it is 25 mcg.  I do think I am going from hypo to hyper.  Has > anyone else had this happen?> > I am going to do some reading on AF.> > >  >  >  > > > > > ________________________________> From:

I was kept on .25 of generic t4 for the first 2 years after I was diagnosed.

Then after some VERY stressful times, I started getting lightheaded, turning

pale, lost 40 pounds in a couple months, anxiety, insomnia, off balance when

just standing, head/ear pressure, migraines with aura (not much pain though),

right sided parathesis, muscle cramps, oh and the list goes on. When I was kept

on the 25 mcg's those years prior my TSH was always around 3.5 and my Free t4

was on the low normal. My TPO's were in the low hundreds.

Well, my docs thought I was going Hyper, so they lowered meds...took me off

meds, finally tested me for Graves andtibodies...guess who has those too? Yup.

What I have learned so far is that being kept at that low dose for sooo long was

making me sicker!!! I don't want you to go through the same misery I have been

this last year and a half or so. I am basically bed bound from my near pass out

sessions to ear pressure and visual disturbances. Sometimes with Hashi's I know

some of us have to move VERY slowly when increasing our meds. I move in just

12.5 mcg's every 6 weeks or so. My doctors won't test my adrenals anymore :(

I hope you listen to Carol and get those adrenals tested, and work on

those....and move higher and higher on your thyroid meds very slowly, but

without your ranges, I assume you are still off??? Did you post ranges?

Oh, and, my TSI (Graves antibodies) have gone down...yes down since I started

increasing my T4 only meds. I don't think anyone could benefit much from just 25

mcg's. We Hashi's people need to try and get our TSh close to 0 as comfortable,

but at least 1'ish is what I have been told. Our Free T4's in mid range and our

Free T3's in upper mid at least. Oh, I am post hysterectomy for many years now,

and I do feel that is what set off my thyroid issues in the very first place,

but I was not nearly as sick at first...it just kept getting worse and worse

then bam, TERRIBLE.

I hope that you feel better very soon.

Chele, When you say you move in just 12.5 mcg every 6 weeks are you saying you are increasing your amounts every 6 weeks? ( mine have a score line in them to cut)

I will ask my doctor to test my adrenal's my next visit. I think he will be fine with it if I ask.

I feel so much better being on the meds.! Just after a month of taking them in the morning on an empty stomach I was getting the symptoms you described! ( I wouldn't mind losing 40 lbs however. ;) I thought I was going to pass out one day in the grocery store.

I will tell my doctor about it at my next visit about this along with the adrenal test.

no DRs do not know and will often refuse to test ; crazy.

Modern MEdicine has hurt us and our DRs terribly by the crazy things they have

'advertized' over the years.. based on no logical reasons at all (but money??big

pharm ;(

and in fact there is massive amounts of medical science to prove why WE are

right :) RE: iron/ferritin and Adrenal FAtigue " etc.

==fwiw estrogen can affect our ability to use thryoid hormone

related to ?binding proteins? etc.. and one has to know estrogen status when

dosing Thryoid /RX..

Hi i am just wondering what the signs of adrenal fatigue are? I had both thyroids removed over a year ago for cancer. And am on o.1 mg of eltroxin and am still feeling tired all the time, and my skin is really try and i can snap easily but nothing wrong meds show fine. Although my endo says maybe i need to be tested for sleep apnea. So how do you get tested maybe i should ask my family doctor instead. Thanks Lori From: ms_sisyphus_00

there are a lot of signs and symtpoms and BEhaviors! :)

" Adrenal Fatigue " is really about the entire stress system /whose center

ofcourse resides in our brain) the Brain's stress horones actually cause most

of the symptoms in fact,,

which is why both Low corisol/AF and HIgh cortisol/AF patients share so many of

the same signs and SYmptoms!!

plus they overlap with HypoThryoidism to a certain extent (EG a lot of HYPOT

signs are actually AF caused for example.

DR RInd made a nice effort to try to list some of the AF VS Hypot sings and

symptoms and tests but it is by no means complete!

http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-symptoms-matrix

also GOOGLE: DR Lam + Adrenal Fatigue

his is the only website that tells us outfight in a few randmo paragraphs ,that

AF is about our biologic stress system parts :

SNS and Sympathoadrneal system and HPA axis (there are about8 stress hormones

and 2 are from the Hypothalamus, which means they also get released Direclty

into our brain and CSF cerebral spinal fluid too.

both Merck manual and some Neuroscience literature notes we release Vasopressin

for " Emotioanl Stress "

(Vasopressin and CRH are the head of the HPA aaxis and do about 1000 thing sin

the brain and boyd ,, including tell our adrenal to make more cortisol :)

even tho the good AF doctors have simplified their explanation to the point of

confusion,, their AF _lifestyle guidelines are still correct

i really like DR WIlson's Adrenal Fatiuge book to learn the AF lifestyle

guideliens VERY EZ to read ;tho lite on the science

its a great place to get started making changes :)

Hi ,

I am sorry, I did phrase that funny. Yes I am increasing by just 12.5 mcg's at a

time. My body still loves to do an overreaction to the adjustments, but nothing

like before. Sadly it feels like it takes forever when all you want to do is

hurry and feel better. I get labs for TSH, FT4, FT3 every six weeks then we

raise another 12.5 mcgs. That has helped my body not go into such shock with the

meds. I still have this cycle go on when I start new ones, but much better than

before.

Now, another thing I think you need checked due to your light headedness is

" reactive hypoglycemia " as I learned I am dealign with that too. I was at endo's

office after she tells me I am borderline HypO (tsh of 13, lowest normal numbers

for FT3 and FT4's with antibodies >1000... she's not a genius) when I dropped on

the floor as I felt I was about to pass out...I turned white as a sheet and they

took my blood on a glucose monitor. It was 5o something. I have not had as many

of the " pass out " feelings since I now cut out sugar (oh how I miss it) but I

eat more nuts and regularly. So, I would say, if you have or know someone who

has a glucose monitor, test your blood 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours after you

eat...especially after being out moving around as reactive hypoglycemia is not

uncommon for us too. My morning glucose fasting blood tests always came back

normal, it's a regulation problem that some of us have that our system over

reacts to things.

Oh and that 40 pounds??? Darn things are creeping back up on me!!!

Hope this helps.
