Guest guest
Hi Chrissy, Are you sure your not over medicated? High cortisol and low iron can make some people feel hyperT with a rapid heart rate. If you rule those out, it is more likely to be Hashitoxicosis where high spurts of thyroid hormone are discharged randomly and can last for months. This normally happens when the thyroid is burning-out from the Hashi damage. Normally when this happens you have a high FT3 level as well. There are a few people who do go from hypoT to hyperT, however, almost always a Graves' person will go from Graves' to Hashis. What are your current lab levels? Do you have any nodules? Nodules can sometimes cause hyperness much like T3 toxicosis or Hashitoxicosis. Many of the symptoms are similar in Graves' and Hashitoxicosis, so testing is very important to know which is happening. Besides TSH, FT3, FT4, RT3, TPOab and TGab ask for TSI and TBII or TRab. Guest guest
Yes, I have both, clinically diagnosed from blood work, not simply 'hypo' and 'hyper'. You can become hyper from meds, but it will not make it Graves. That is a specific blood test that is used to diagnose it. You CAN have both! in TNTo: Thyroiditis Sent: Mon, March 7, 2011 3:53:04 PMSubject: Re: can hashimoto's turn into graves disease? Guest guest
You need to get to your doctor ASAP with that high of heart rate. You, also, need the appropriate testing - FT3, FT4, RT3, TPOab, TGab, TSI and TBII. My daughter has both Hashis and Graves'. The TSI/TBII tests will rule in or out Graves'; a Graves' Dx is having TSI of over 130 although most Graves' patients have TSI of 200-500. It can be comlicated as Graves' patients often have TPO/TGabs and Hashis patients can sometimes have the TSH Receptor Antibodies, too. (TSI/TBII tests the multifaceted (sub-types) TSH Receptor antibodies.)
