Guest guest
I had 2 Chiari (so called experts) doctors here in Chicago perform CINE MRI's on me. Both said I had adequate flow and I was fine. When I went to TCI and they did a CINE MRI per their parameters I had low compliance posterior. When TCI performed my decompression they said I had no flow, and if i would have waited another year must likely i would not be here today. That is why it is sooooooooo important to have a real Chiari expert do your work-up and diagnosis. Guest guest
I have Chiari Malformation 1 and had decompression surgery on July 17, 2008. My age was 50 1/2 when I had the decompression. I did not awake from my surgery for 2 days. My symptoms seemed to be gone for about 1 month besides the chiari headache that I had for constant for about 3 weeks later. After that slowly all remaining symptoms came back. All of the symptoms are back now. In October 2008 I was suppose to have occult tethered cord surgery done and had a cold but had been on antibiotics for 2 weeks prior so they said come on up and we will be able to go ahead and do your surgery. I was headed to the operating room when a little nurse heard me coughing and ask if my Dr. knew that I had a cold. I replied yes, and she said what did he say! I said ultimately it is up to the antistesiologist so she went and got him, he checked me out and then said I'm calling the chief antistesiologist, he came to see me outside the operating room on the guerney and said I advise you not to have surgery because you could get a mucus plug in there while in surgery, and and it could shut down your lungs and it could be all over with nothing could be done. I haven't been back since. I told the doctor if there was any risk at all the night before when I saw him in the office to cancel the surgery. He said I'll be fine. Then they had the nerve to bill me for all the drs. and 250.00 for the hospital that day when I ended up leaving and going back to Ohio after driving 600 miles. I cannot work now. I've lost my insurance and having problems. Then they said well that surgery was optional anyway!!! I was told I had to have that surgery. I have disc desiccation at L4-L5 and L5-S1. At L5-S1 there is a disc bulge with a superimposed central disc protrusion and annular tear. At the L4-L5 there is a disc bulge with a superimposed left foraminal protrusion. There is also moderate facet arthrosis and thickening of the ligamentum flavum. The disc bulge results in flattening of the ventral thecal sac without significant central canal stenosid At the L3-L4there is moderate facet arthrosis and thickenin of the ligamentum flavum. I also have cranial settling now , wear a back brace and have to walk with a cane. I can't find anyone to say I disabled and unable to work. I'm having hot and then cold surges when I get up or sit down move from one place to another. Pains in my chest. Don't know what's going on.
