Outcome of 1st DAN Visit

Hi everyone:

Just wanted to see if anyone had any opinions regarding what my DAN is prescribing for my son right now. Bear in mind that he is 16 years old, 6'4" tall and about 250 lbs. Here is what he prescribed for now.

1) Opti-Zinc 30 - 2 capsules at night

2) Calcium with vitamin D - 2 capsules once per day

3) Omega Pure 600 - 2 capsules twice per day

4) P-5-P - 1 capsule twice per day

5) DMG with folinic acid and B12 - 1 capsule twice per day

6) Probiotic complete - 25 billion cfus

Also we started him on the Methyl B12 shots, once we have reached full strength he will be on 3500 mcg ( i think that's correct) every 3rd day.

Thank you all on any thoughts you may have regarding the above.

I would definitely hold off on any calcium supplements. Is he milk

free? And if he is, was he a big milk drinker beforehand?

Your body will not uptake calcium that is in a less than bioavailable

form. It will only end up where it doesn't belong. Arteries, brain,

etc. If you eat a whole foods diet you will not be depriving your body

of natural calcium. Strong as an OX wont come from cosuming milk or

calcium supplements. Other animals that don't consume dairy or

supplemental calcium are not uptaking lead. Many Inuit communities

have almost no autism, and they consume next to little or no dairy or

supplemental calcium. Calcium is very complex and must be consumed with

many vitamins and enzymes to be used properly by the body.

Reynolds wrote:

I agree the whole dairy/calcium thing is over hyped.

But calcium is still extremely important in the body.

And if the body is low in calcium, then it will try and use other

elements to fill the gap, which means, for example, you get a much

greater uptake of lead in your bones.

I'll take calcium over lead any day.

cnickerson wrote:

Many of our kids are calcium toxic. They are usually high in

iron

and

copper too. Our kids have problems with calcium absorbtion. Calcium

supplements can trigger behaviours too. Hold off and then have calcium

levels tested. My kids have only gotten calcium from their meat veggies

and fruit (no milk subs either) and their calcium levels are still

normal high after 18 months. We even do reverse osmosis water to keep

from being overminalized. On a side note, I saw a bottle of CLR

yesterday and it made me think of how we require such a toxic cleaner

to get rid of the build of minerals in our sink from our water!

Bacteria in the gut will also use calcium to survive. The calcium hype

is just that.

Elsie Salem wrote:

Yes my son is milk free right now. He was never a big

milk drinker but he was a huge cheese lover. Why do you say I should

hold off on calcium supplements. They are free of dairy or casein and

all that I've heard if they are off milk they should take calcium

supplements. Thanks for helping me out.

remember cal needs mag, D and K for absorption and can't be around zinc with out cancleing it, so all that can help absorption when taking it, you can also only absorb so much at one time as well

agreed, most DANs recommend cal suppliements unless you see agression, most are low in cal according to what DAN teaches and talks about. for some it's an excitotoxin, and If I remember correctly that can play more into kids with oxilate issues as well., the FORM of cal can also make a difference as there are many kinds of cal as well, oxilate, citrate ect

When adding Mag, does this refer Magnesium or Magnanese?

Want to try taking away calcium for a week for teeth grinding. My son

already has magnanese in the Super NuThera & Melotonin.
