past my limits " . Unfortunately the woman died and I got hauled into court

because I had received the unsolicited confession.

I had something very similar to that just this past New Year's Eve. 04:32

in the morning...9-1-1 rang, I answered with our traditional greeting,

" 9-1-1, what is your emergency? " The male voice on the other end said, " We

need an ambulance at XXX Road. I just shot a guy. " Now....keep in mind we

are very rural and don't handle calls like this but once a year or so, so in

my shocked stupor, I turned to my partner and said into the phone, " You just

shot someone?!?!? " I knew that would get my partner's attention!! ha!

To make a long story short, he then went on to tell me why he shot the

guy (the victim was calling his girlfriend names). Needless to say, he

confessed the whole thing to me, I talked him into laying down the shotgun

in the yard outside, and talked him out of the house when the deputies

arrived. It was an awesome call. I'm sure it's just a matter of time

though before they pull the tapes and I make my first trip to the courtroom.
