Guest guest
: You ask some great questions and I don't have any answers. These last two years back in school have allowed me to work on my own issues, belief systems and thinking errors. It is a personal journey. All we can do is change ourselves as we are never going to change other's. There will always be folks that stereotype others, all we can do is change "our" behavior. Folks join support groups for a variety of reasons and there are also AS groups that are closed to NT folks that some have left because of what they perceived as negativity towards NT's so it flows both ways. We just have to find someplace where "we" feel comfortable in sharing our issues as we are all different. I look at NT groups like A-Anon. They are in place to support families not those with as the issues are different. ASPIRES is unique as we are a mixed board, and folks are going to get offended from time to time as we are all human and social and communication skills is an issue for all of us. If someone is here for support for their AS partner, it is specific to their situation and not a reflection on all folks with AS and NT's. Just my humble opinion.
