Guest guest
Well....so much to look into (and feeling stressed with so little time!). I've had tinnitus for years (long before thyroid dx)...and still have it. Felt suicidal because of it initially - but learned to accept it. Never have I heard it linked to hypothyroidism - so very interested to explore this. i also have painful ears - feel stuffy all the time - ache at times. ENT said "dysfunctional eustachian tube" and tried to get me to take anti-hystamines. I recently went to ENT because my ear pain was the worst it's ever been....and he thought maybe TMJ + eustachian tube stuff going on. he ordered ear tests and all kinds of things which I just haven't done due to money limitations. If I'm going to go into debt for this - I'm going to wait till Jan. for deductible reasons. Interestingly - never hit me that it might be thyroid related....except - about a week after ENT appt - I went and got a thyroid test cuz I knew it wasn't right. I've been happily stable for years until recently and now all out of whack again. grrrr. Anyway - I'd have guessed my thyroid meds needed to be increased - but TSH was 0.7 - lower than every. usually I feel good at about 1.0 to 1.2. The test I got didn't give antibody info. I just re-tested yesterday and hope to have results tonight/tomorrow. Anyway - thanks for the info linking all this together. My brain hadn't connected them .sandy, wishing to feel "normal" again. Subject: Re: TinnitusTo: Thyroiditis Date: Tuesday, December 21, 2010, 11:28 AM:) yes it does i am wearing a woman's tux right now and i have a monocle but Google Dandy's + balance cuz i can't explain it well..brain fog i cuz haven't read up on it Lately.. just enough to realize i have/had it!for ME: i felt like i was on a TRaMpOLiNe when i was just walking across a flat surface! this was different than one's regular old balance and dizzines issues that are common in tinnitus and espeically MEnierre's Disease. brain fog/damage but i think they know its related to the CSF fluid as much as it can be related to the Inner-ear and "Endolymphic Hydrops (Which HAashis patients can and do get = some literater on the Autoijmune aspect of the Inner ear and specific symptosm folks can have) the medical literature also mention a 'grading system' related to Dandys (modified Dandy's SOmething-or-Other that was created to define what/how bad off a person is in terms of what specific sytmposm and to what degree?...-Carolfwiw i don't think that most hypot/ AF patients who experience ANy slight degree of issues with their CSF fluid ,, realize that this is going on as well...AND i don't know that most of us would test = POsitive just like most of us have "normal":) serum Cortisol tests but still we do have "Adrenal Fatiuge'!and i do feel for MOST of us,, if we get the Thryoid hromoneS* optimized and get the Stress system rebalanced (aka "Adrenal Fatiuge and lifestyle changes are KEY) then we can rebalance the pressure in the CSF =and the inner ears (i have always had Ear issues like baby's do on airplanes :)but i have/had them just driving in a car)> > >> >> > my longest running symptom +including the Dizziness and spaciness and even> > Dandy's symptoms > >> > its a HYPOT/hashis /Adrenal Fatigue symptom..> > you can have any or all and they will cause tinnitus/dizzy/spacy /even> > dandy's..> >> >>------------------------------------*Note: Information is freely exchanged on this board based on patient experiences, and should not be considered a medical recommendation. Guest guest
hi the stress hormones affect cell receptors in our inner ears (they exist all over the body ofocurse:) anwya; i have had the stuffy thing too and constant Vasomotor rhiniits etc yes its Hypothyroidism related but here is teh thing; science has proven the stress system /parts/ are part of the process in activating Autoimmune disease gense like Hashis.. etc and stress system affects our liver's adn thryoid ability to make thryoid hromones ETC. and stress hormones like Vasopressin (AKA ADH) are documented to be the cause of tinnitus and ENdolymphic Hydrops! ofcourse Vasoperssin also tells teh adrneals to make coritsol (If they can !) none of these things operate in a vacuum and they all affect each other .. please GOOGLE: DR Lam + Adrenal Fatiuge and read all his AF pages; i may not agree with all his ideas for treatmetns, etc, but his is the ONLY " AF " website that actually admits that the brain and SNS and HPA axis and SYmpathoadrenal system (and the catechoalmines) are what is fatiguing people's " Adrenals oh and test your Ferritin and full iron panel!!!! (ferritin must be 70 - 90) or we can't fully utilize our thyroid hormones/RX.. oh and test your THRYOID TESTS= ALL -FREE T3 -FREE t4 and Reverse T3 the fact that you have inner ear eutstachain swelling means that you are still HYPOT at the cellularl level regardless of your TSH test ! -Carol > > > > > > > > > > > my longest running symptom +including the Dizziness and spaciness and even > > > Dandy's symptoms > > > > > > its a HYPOT/hashis /Adrenal Fatigue symptom.. > > > you can have any or all and they will cause tinnitus/dizzy/spacy /even > > > dandy's.. > > > > > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > *Note: Information is freely exchanged on this board based on patient experiences, and should not be considered a medical recommendation. Guest guest
Hi, It looks like my dd's tinnitus, dizziness, has been caused by her prevacid capsules. It has cleared up when i stopped her medication. I have given her 1 capsule(1/2 her dose of prevacid) every 2-3 days as her stomach wasn't doing so good and it has immediately brought back some dizziness for hours and also some tinnitus. Guest guest
wow! do you think it was the low stomach acid causing an absorption issue " or or an INactive ingredient causing the tinnitus/dizzy? -Carol > > > > Hi, > > It looks like my dd's tinnitus, dizziness, has been caused by her prevacid capsules. Guest guest
i think it was the medication itself as listed as rare side affects for this medication is tinnitus and dizziness. I also opened the capsules(put it in a probiotic capsule) to eliminate the chances it was a reaction to the colouring dyes in the capsules. I think the reaction was too severe too immediate and too long lasting to be an inactive ingredient causing it.... c. > > > > > > > > Hi, > > > > It looks like my dd's tinnitus, dizziness, has been caused by her prevacid capsules.
