Just wanted some feedback in regards to middle school PE. How many of you

children participate in regular PE at the middle school (6-8 grade)? My son just

had his second detethering in Feb. We are still going to PT about three times

and week and he is still using arm crutches. It is a slow and steady recovery. I

stress the word slow. He is working very hard but it is a long process. We were

not prepared for how much strength and balance he was going to lose especially

in the hips. His last surgery was when he was a baby so it was not any issue

since he was not walking yet. Anyhow, I am meeting with the middle school

tomorrow to do the 504 for him. I just do not see him in PE at anytime really in

middle school. Between his PT and the exercises he needs to do and going to Aqua

workout and the gym I feel he is covered. My hope is to get all that to count

for PE and let him just take another class. His doctor that his PT can count or

go to Adapt. PE. My son wants no part of Adapt. PE. I also know what a nightmare

getting changed will be with his AFO's etc. Just was curious of what others

have done in this situation. Thanks so much for your input!!
