Guest guest
I did do antiboties testing for hashimoto's and tested positive. I am calling another dr to look at all of this also bloodwork, diet, etc. :)Sender: Thyroiditis Date: Sun, 20 Mar 2011 17:17:47 -0700 (PDT)To: <Thyroiditis >ReplyTo: Thyroiditis Subject: Re: Confused There's a problem with Hashimotos, you have to do low levels or not deliberately take iodine, as it encourages your thyroid to work even more! If you've not had antibody testing done for your thyroid, push for it. When I took iodine in high theraputic doses per a certain online Dr.'s protocol, it is supposed tohave told my thyroid to work a lot and the anitbodies from my autoimmune system went crazy and now they are very very high. IF you have an out of control immune system that's causing problems, then that's you main issue, as it can cause other organs to get damaged! This is why I'm off gluten, and am being tested for arthritis and other major autoimmune diseases, so I am completely aware and can make more changes to my lifestyle(change out food that may be contribiting) to mange them and prevent other damage to my body. LightSubject: ConfusedTo: Thyroiditis Date: Saturday, March 19, 2011, 5:26 PM Hi, my name is and was diagnosed with hashimoto's Dec/09. I have so much to talk about but would like to address a problem that is occuring right now. My question is:-f your tsh is 0.0 and a FT4 is 2.1 does this mean you need to have your thyroid killed? My endo wants to do this because i am sweating so bad, slight increase in the heart rate, insomia. I have not been on meds for 4 months. I was on synthroid/cytomel stoppped it and switched to ERFA. after about a month my tsh dropped and has not moved for 4 months. Guest guest
I don't have a thyroglobulin test. But your is 1000, and mine is less than 1/2 of yours. But my understaning is normally those his antibodies kill the thyroid and so you would possibly have a much higher chance of being hypo. then where you are at right now. Are you sure you are reading your TSH results correctly? I would be looking for a second opinion but not from a naturopath, but from another endo if I were you. One that may figure out what is truely going on there. naturolpaths will only do a minimum like say drop gluten from my best guess. Guest guest
wait LIsa your DR sounds confused and incorrect based on the items you posted here. AUtoimmune Thryoid disease should not be handled by RIA or cutting out the thryoid. its 2011 and there is TONS of science and many Patients who are living this and have made it their business to find the FACTS do not be scared you should know that our Biologic stress-system actually gets messed up by both AUtoimmune activity and also by having Unoptimal Thryoid hromone levels in the body so. calm down and do YOUR due-diligence do not rely on some doctor who graduated form Medical School.. how long ago? 1 thing you will have to learn is that " PRacticing " Doctors do NOT have time to keep up on all the science that is being discovered and learned and disemmniated .. every minute of every day and YOU can see it all thanks to the INTERNET ++++++++ go and get your Lab Results type them here Lab Test Name = Your 'score " and also inclulde the Lab's NORMAL range for each test AND THE DATE Include whether you were taking (what kind) of Thryoid Hormone RX for reach " set " of thyroid tests include your THyroid ANTIBODY tests results and any other Thryoid tests they did on you (scans ? imagain? what) slow down and calm down and list your symptoms and also the Symptoms that Made your DR _THINK_ he should be doing RAI to destroy your thy6roid gland! btw did your DR happen to menion the FACT the highest Production of t3 (the most " important " of the 5 thyroid hromones), is NOT made by your Thryoid gland but instead made by our LIVER??? trust there is a bunch of other stuff your doctor doesn't know about Thryoid hormones and thyroid hormoens role in our health of every cell.. -Carol > > > Subject: Confused > To: Thyroiditis > Date: Saturday, March 19, 2011, 5:26 PM > > Hi, my name is and was diagnosed with hashimoto's Dec/09. Guest guest
Hi , TSH in itself is NOT significant; the important thing is to look at symptoms, FT3 and FT4, auto-antibody counts, other labs and tests. I would get a second opinion if all the Endo is offering is RAI. If you already have serious heart symptoms you need to be put on a beta-blocker to prevent permanent damage to your heart. First thing I would request (demand if need be) is an ultra sound to to rule out hyper-active nodules, sometimes these can NOT be felt on a throat exam, especially if they are very small (but still can be powerfully hyper-acting)? Sometimes diet changes can help, other times not so much. Were you checked for a copper deficiency, that can give you heart palps, sweating, etc. Proper copper metabolism interrelates and depends upon iron and zinc to work efficiently, all three these minerals MUST be in-balance. AF = adrenal fatigue and AI = autoimmune. It could be that your body is going through Hashitoxicosis also sometimes called Thyrotoxicosis or T3-Toxicosis although T4 can be elevated in some patients. This can happen in some Hashis resulting from severe inflammation of the thyroid gland, which cause sporadic and high release of stored thyroid hormone. Usually, Hashitoxicosis happens in early stages of Hashis. Some scientists say the thyroid is trying to stop the AI attack. Try bugleweed, motherwort tincture and lemon balm for a few months. You can take these with an ATD (anti-thyroid drug), all of these helped to reduce my daughter's hyper symptoms. She takes 3,000 mgs PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid), sometimes called vitamin Bx, which is included as one of the B-complex vitamins depending who is talking. Anyway, it can weaken and alleviate hyper symptoms. Plus, a whole-food multi with extra vitamin C, Vitamin D, and EPO (evening primrose oil) and omega 3 (fish oil). We all take curcumin, a very effective anti-inflammatory that can help with inflammation in AI thyroid disorders (Dr Kharrazian says in his book *Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms?* that it helps modulate both sides of our -out-of-balance- immune system). Your symptoms could be caused by accelerated synthesis as in Graves' disease. Hashis can suddenly turn into Graves' - this has happened to two of my friends. The Graves' antibodies called TSHR (TSH Receptor) antibody, need to be tested aka TSI and TBII. The TSHR antibodies are complex as there is three subtypes – stimulating, binding (neutral) and blocking. Note: TSHR antibodies are present in most if not all Graves', about 50% of Hashitoxicosis and about 10% with Hashis (not counting Hashis that previously had Graves' and/or Hashitoxicosis and are now permanent Hashi hypo). Confusing, I know, it took me a few years to get it all straightened out. I hope this is helpful, ~Bj > > > > Hello, I havnt been medicated for 4 months. Also I just read in stop the thyroid madness, p.62 " it is not uncommon to see a tsh of 0.009 or 0.004 when optimal " . I just found it in my book. Does anyone else read this book? > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
High anti-TPO titers are seen in over 95% of patients with chronic Hashimoto's thyroiditis and over 70% of Graves' disease patients, elevated amounts of these antibodies are also present in other autoimmune disorders. The magnitude of the antiTPO or antiTG antibody titer does NOT correlate with the clinical activity of the disease. People that have been chocked or injure their necks have these antibodies. Also, thyroid patients can test negative when the damage stays in the thyroid gland as tests only pick-up what is in the blood stream. I had antiTPOab of over 20,000 and I still have most of my gland although I have significantly lowered them with diet and lifestyle changes. I acquired a new disease called endophobia after a local respected Endo almost killed me with his extreme TSH bias. If you like TSH worshipping then of course an Endo is the way to go. Most Endos do know how to treat diabetes but thyroid NOT so much. For many Endos RAI is the treatment of choice in Hashitoxicosis and Graves'. After going through every Endo in our area looking for competent help we finally found a family practice dr with a bio-chemistry background that is VERY competent - something I can *never* say for all those Endos. Also, some of the TSH crazy Endos were also osteoporosis fanatics that keep their patients on the smallest amount of T4 possible leading to chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia Dxs. Unfortunately, osteoporosis will occur just as quickly from LOW and starved thyroid hormones in the body. Sometimes Naturopaths or family practice doctors are much better for us. I have found that Naturopaths are much, much MORE conscientious and diligent in treatment than Endos. Guest guest
I believe he gave him T4 only. And I don't think it was a Naturopath or anything - just a traditional GP or Endo. > > " > have a cousin who has hyperthyroidism and his doc gave him a low dose of thyroid so as to signal to his body to stop producing thyroid hormone - then I think they gradually had to increase it > " > > that is very interestnig; i had never heard of that before either.. > only heard of that 'block and replace'. > > what type of RX did they give him? > T4-only ?
