While the focus is the workplace, the dynamic affects all areas of life wherever people congregate, online and off. I had never heard the term " social vandalism " before. The more I think about it, the more I really like the term and find it to be very descriptive of the dynamic involved. Of particular interest to me was the following excerpt dealing with perspective, and how the definition of what is 'rational' is very much in the eye of the beholder. For those who have difficulty understanding that others have perspectives different from their own, it's a good reminder that working to develop sharp theory-of-mind skills can often be a key to one's ability to navigate the world. The lens you view the situation through is what you consider to be rational. Rational is subjective – people make decisions based on their emotions and insecurities.
