Thanks BJ!I take my Armour once a day, in the morning.9mos ago, I tried getting a referral to see an endo at UCSF and they took one look at my labs and bounced it back to the clinic I was going to. They declared I was "mild hypothyroid" and the clinc should be able to handle my care (and they wouldn't not take me)...which is fustrating. The reason I wanted to see a specialist is because the family practice doctors really didn't have a clue, even about managing a "mild" case of autoimmune hypothyroidism. I have since moved and am seeing a NP, and she is the first I've been able to hold a pretty decent conversation about thyroid function with. But yes, it is time for a full panel of blood work again! Thanks for the reply!Tasha>> Hi Tasha,> > Congratulations on eating healthy! This is a HUGE accomplishment! > > When do you take the Armour? Do you take it once a day? Or do you take it twice a day? For some people T3 can disrupt sleep if it is taken too late in the day. Also, if your cortisol is high it can distrub sleep. > > When I cleaned up my diet and lifestyle I had to reduce the thyroid meds I was taking. I was on both Armour and Cytomel. In fact, I reduced Armour by over half and stopped all Cytomel. I went from 6 grains of Armour and 50 mcgs of Cytomel to 2.5 grains of NDT. I believe that gluten has the ability to inhibit and block thyroid hormones at the cellular level. > > You really need to test TSH, FT3, FT4 and TPOab and TGab. Going by symptoms can be problematic because you can

feel hypO and really be hypER and vice versa. Also, .75 grain of Armour is a very low dose and may suggest that you can improve your health without Armour. Not everyone needs to be in the mid to high range either. You want to aim for where you feel best.> > I, also, experienced sleep disturbances and was able to improve my sleep with melatonin. This is not recommended for Hashis but it greatly helped me to regulate my sleep. I was also on Cortef for low adrenal function at the time.> > HTH,> ~Bj
