a gunny weekend

My small department doesn't handle a lot of calls involving weapons but we

had 2 felony menacing calls this weekend, both involving alcohol and

fortunately no injuries.

Friday night I took the perfect 9-1-1 call. Female caller was calm and

answered all questions completly without much prompting. It started off with

her telling me a man with a gun was trying to get into her apartment from the

balcony. She gave an excellent description of the suspect and said she

recognized him as the man who lived in the apartment below her. She wasn't

sure what kind of gun, but it was small and she had heard him cock it before

he screamed " I'm going to kill you b****es " . Then she said the cutest thing

" We (she had a room-mate) just moved here 3 weeks ago from Atlanta and this

is not acceptable " .--) We arrested the suspect within 5 minutes of the

call, recovered the unloaded weapon from the waist band of his shorts, and

watched him bawl his eyes out in our holding cell where his biggest concern

was " My mom is going to kill me " .. He was a very intoxicated 21 yoa and

upset because he couldn't find the tap for his beer keg. He was hosting a

party of one!

Then last night, had male call claiming that the two girls who live behind

him threw him off of their balcony at gun point. He was drunk, they wern't.

A gun was recovered at their house but it's not clear if the gun was ever

used. In the time we had the caller on the phone his story changed many

times and then the officers heard yet another version from him at the scene.
