Guest guest
I am an orthopaedic surgeon who has been on low-carb for 2-1/2 years Lost 21 kg and now am off my cholesterol drugs for 18 months... When it worked on me I went " public " with it and got droves of physicians who came for treatment and put them on it...had great results..have been doing a prospective study where all patients get an insulin done and high risk...those with family history of diabetes type II get gtt with 3-point insulin levels, and have to date over 250 patients in the study..was getting too busy in my ortho practice so I set up a wellness center to treat this group.(www.mediwell.com.my).. My preliminary results..29% of women and 25% of total group have IR..as you find it..this results scares the daylight out of them to stay on low-carb program..have very good results..100% weight loss. 100% sugar control in DM, and 98% of hypertensives under control..am not ready to publish it ... will wait a little longer before I do it Initially I got a lot of flak from physicians - that I'm a quack orthopod doing things out of my area..incidentally Banting was an orthopod...so maybe I am on the right track..went on a nationwide meida drive to brainwash the population on this..now am getting some positive feedback..now I have cardiologists referring patients for treatment...not easy, but one must be a fanatic to promote this and be ready for a lot of flak form the medical community Hope this is of use..sorry, not a Medline citation yet, but I will one day Cheers Dr Vaikunthan MBBS,FRCS(ed), FRCS(glsg), AM, FICS
