Guest guest
This has been a big complaint of mine with Medicaid. I have only one person on my long list of doctors and therapists who takes Medicaid. I was told you could have a speech therapist come to your home if you can find one. I may explore this option and see if I can work something out with newly graduated person or possibly someone who only wants to work part time and not for a large clinic. I'm in Austin if anyone knows a person like that. Good Luck Hello Once again I need some help. My son finally was accepted to have Medicaid . I was told he can get speech therapy. Does any one knows a place (speech therapy) where they take medicaid but they are good experience with kids with autism?. Unfortunately the place that he was going, don't take medicaid. We leave in Houston (west area) I am willing to go as far as Sugarland TX. Thank you for your time and your info. Have a lovely week! Guest guest
If one can contact your child's case mgr. for a list or the Texas Medicaid Provider for a list of providers around your community, if this has not been done. True to all who have already looked into what you have to such findings.Plus the added complaints is also once one becomes 21 y/o & over, it gets worse. Many Medicaid provider agency that provide specialize services, they will cut your child off when they become 21, be prepared. Seems like there have have been some who are under 21 y/o already getting booted out & have to seek elsewhere, depending on the Medicaid Provider agency. Many provider agencies that contract w/Medicaid know that a therapist will get paid for a child under 21 y/o then an adult. Yes, there is a better chance when one is under a Medicaid Waiver program for when one is over 21 y/o but this is the case, where are the ST? Plus a darn good one too, who understands a person w/autism & if one has some technology knowledge was in my son's case. The other is when one is not aware of when asked if Star Plus or Traditional Medicaid within medical physicians or specialized service therapy IF found, many business are better off with the Traditional Medicaid but then there is the other service to choose from depending on the level of need of an individual under the Medicaid waiver services, this is where Star Plus Medicaid could assist w/respite hours. The other is also dental services also stops at 21 y/o as well. Unless one is under a Medicaid Waiver program with allotted funds during the fiscal IPC (Individual Person Contract) for dental services. If lucky enough the dentist will work w/the Provider agency which could be an annual dental visit. So, ensure working on the dental hygiene while under 21 y/o goals if possible. The other which hopefully it's a good Waiver Provider agency that will ensure the dentist receive their payment because then it will hurt the fact the dentist can no longer provide their services for our adults even when it's already hurting many which is very limited. Yes, this happens some Providers agencies have done this, not pay the dentist which just shows their consumers is only used as numbers. Another story. Stay in tune w/Texas Parent to Parent due to staying on top of the Medicaid Waiver programs, Medicaid, Health Insurance, etc. Here is to everyone within this mission. Guest guest
I beleive TEAM Approach (FM529 and North Eldridge) have been going through the process of being certified (?) for Medicare. Not sure where they are in the process. I know several autistic children go there for speech. "Be still and know that I am God." Guest guest
Rosie: Kingwood Speech Pathology Services takes it. They are about to be involved with my son, so I cannot necessarily give them a recommendation to how good they are/or not. But I know they do take Medicaid. They are right off Highway 59 and Kingwood Drive. Guest guest
Rosie, Try Perri Palermo at Speech For Life in Bellaire or Phyllis Berenberg – I think she’s around that same area. We have used Perri and she is good. I’ve heard good things about Phyllis. They both have experience with autism and communication devices.
