Working independently

We could use some suggestions on teaching my son to work independently at school

and on homework. If there's not someone sitting right next to him he will just

sit there, flipping pages or twiddling a pencil. He often knows how to do the

work, but not always, although he knows how to ask for help. He has told me

repeatedly, " just tell me the answer " . Apparently, that's what several teachers

have done for him! Ugh!!!

We've tried having him do just 1 problem by himself - hasn't worked. Anything

else you suggest? He's just not motivated.
