Guest guest
Amber:Wait for the pictures. You don't have to truly run a red light to get a ticket at one of these things. Red light cameras activate if you go over the " stop line. " Also, if you made a right turn at one of these camera lights, a lot of time, people don't actually fully stop at these lights before the stop line, wait 3 seconds and then turn if it is clear (which is the law). If that is the case, you will not be able to fight that. You are also technically supposed to stop behind the " stop line. " That is what they are there for. Even if you didn't run the light, you might have a problem fighting that, too. Just FYI. These are things that happened to my friends and they have shared with us on Facebook. Hello all!! Please forgive me for seeking your help on an OT matter suck as this, but this is the only group that can relate to how important it is I fight this matter since I cannot afford to pay for other people's mistakes! Autism is way to expensive to give in on this!My mother called me last week to tell me a collections agency called her house looking for me. I called the number (after researching that it was a valid facility) and found that it is a photo enforcement center (Municiple Services Bureau) based out of Austin, and they are trying to track me down for outstanding red-light traffic tickets from FEB AND AUG OF 2010!!! They claim they sent correspondence to my old address (I've been at my " new " address for over 5 years! They claim I owe money and that I'm past due for something I didn't even have a clue about (running a red light at 45South/FM518) over a year ago! I have formally requested the photos and am waiting for them in the mail. How can I fight this? Do I have a leg to stand on? Triplets and 2 special needs leaves us financially scrambling, I do not have funds for this mess! I haven't had a ticket in over 10 years, so I'm alittle out of the loop on these traffic violations laws. Thanks for any info you can provide!!Amber
Guest guest
It is my understanding that these "photo tickets" do not appear on your driving record so you don't have to worry about that. Also, if you choose to fight it, you have a very good chance of success as it is difficult to prove that it is you driving. I would contact a legal firm that specializes in this and let them do the leg work for you. Guest guest
And contact League City, too. Your ticket might have actually even been dismissed but of course the collection agency isn't going to tell you that. > > > > It is my understanding that these " photo tickets " do not appear on your driving record so you don't have to worry about that. Also, if you choose to fight it, you have a very good chance of success as it is difficult to prove that it is you driving. I would contact a legal firm that specializes in this and let them do the leg work for you. > > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > From: momofteletollies <sheaam@> > > To: Texas-Autism-Advocacy > > Sent: Tuesday, October 4, 2011 9:07 PM > > Subject: OT--Fighting Red Light Traffic Violations? > > > > > >  > > Hello all!! Guest guest
BTW - if you were never sent a ticket or were not provided one in a timely manner in which to defend yourself against the charges - and you can prove it - your right to due process has been denied. But that's an even bigger matter that definitely won't have a quick, inexpensive conclusion... :s Bonnie > > > > > > It is my understanding that these " photo tickets " do not appear on your driving record so you don't have to worry about that. Also, if you choose to fight it, you have a very good chance of success as it is difficult to prove that it is you driving. I would contact a legal firm that specializes in this and let them do the leg work for you. > > > > > > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > > From: momofteletollies <sheaam@> > > > To: Texas-Autism-Advocacy > > > Sent: Tuesday, October 4, 2011 9:07 PM > > > Subject: OT--Fighting Red Light Traffic Violations? > > > > > > > > >  > > > Hello all!! Guest guest
Thank you so much for your responses!! Bonnie--you might be onto something with that article! I will check that out tomorrow!!! Here was a response from a doctor friend of mine for anyone else hassling this--I am nervous to ignore since I have impecable credit and never had warrents (or even a ticket in over 10 years), so if anyone knows any different please email me!: My cousin is AT & T's corporate attorney. He said that in Texas, the red light camera people have absolutely no authority to affect your credit nor cause legal recourse. He received red light violations in Dallas & completely ignored them. They threatened & threatened and eventually went away. So when I got a red light violation in League City, I called him and he told me to ignore them. I endured threat after threat and almost gave in and paid--but I endured and ignored. Just as he promised, they disappeared with no impact legally nor to our credit. So I say--ignore!!!!! It is about to be illegal in Texas; they know legislation is pending, so they are trying as hard as possible to scare people into paying while they still can!! So I repeat--ignore! It is NOT a DMV-reportable offense!
