Approximately 10,000 Texans will be affected.Cuts will be made through an individual review process that begins now and goes through November 30, 2011. All service cuts are effective December 1, 2011, unless you disagreed with your cuts and got an exception or have asked for a Medicaid fair hearing and are waiting for a hearing date or decision. During the service reviews, individuals and families must know their rights and be prepared to explain and document their need for services at the currently approved levels to prevent reductions in needed services.  There may be cases where the individual can do with less, but there will also be cases where getting fewer services will negatively affect the person’s health, safety and welfare.  The process is complex and can be overwhelming.  Know your rights, learn about the process and be prepared.
