Guest guest
i am offended by this post and the attack on dr bohan just because you didnt like what u were told. just because he doesnt work with kids with seisures doesnt mean he is a bad dr and doesnt have ecperience and specializes in kids wih autism. not all specializes drs deal in all areas of their specialty. dr bohan did a more thorough evaluation and spent more time with my husband and i and my son over 3 consecutive days than the months and many dr visits we endured thru the tch autism center to end up with the neuro there saying my son didnt have autism! I dont know who told u that dr bohan was a fraud but they are wrong. he has 2 medical degrees plus a phd. he is very smart and caring. did u even talk directly to him? who is your so called expert that told u he was a fraud?for not knowing anything about him or ever meeting him and just going by a second hand source and because you didnt like what his nurse said i think your words are rather harsh and out of context. please lets keep flambasting of doctors off this board for now on unless yiu have personal experience and someone asks about the specific doctor. thanks. Sent from my iPhone Ok—I have to vent for a moment about “so-called†autism experts, ‘specially those who also happen to be neurologists. I called Dr. Bohan’s office to see about getting a 24 eeg. . . .was told by the woman answering the phone that he was an autism ‘specialist’. . .she took tons of information. Then 10 minutes later she called me back to see he doesn’t deal with seizures. Call the neurology department at Texas Children’s. Excuse me? Call the neurology department? You don’t have the name of a doctor? You don’t have anyone that you collaborate with for the 40% of kiddos who develop seizures along with their autism?????? What a fraud. He’s not an autism specialist, he’s just another arrogant neurologist who charges way too much for unhelpful, uninformed advice. Bottom line: Avoid Bohan—at least if you love your child with autism. And this from an “expert†in the medical center. All I can say, is that if your child has autism and you want good medical care from MDs, move away from Houston—you won’t get it here. S. Guest guest
Having recently moved from Philadelphia, where we waited two years to even see a specialist, I can only say I am very pleased with the Houston area's access to care for autistic children. Additionally, my four year old is also suspected of having absence seizures and I was THANKFUL when her PCP and her developmental psych. both agreed they are not the people who should diagnose such and referred us to ped. neuro at UT. Think about it- would you really want this Dr. 'diagnosing' your child if s/he does not specialize in the problem??? You should be giving him a 'thumbs up' for honesty- he could have just easily just taken the ins. money. > > Ok-I have to vent for a moment about " so-called " autism experts, 'specially > those who also happen to be neurologists. > > > > I called Dr. Bohan's office to see about getting a 24 eeg. . . .was > told by the woman answering the phone that he was an autism 'specialist'. . > .she took tons of information. Guest guest
I also take offense to your comments. Dr. Bohan has been my sons neurologist for 14 years. It was Dr Bohan who when my son had his first seizure three years ago and put his arm through a window that met me at the hospital, cleaned my sons wound, and stayed with us until my son was released. Through the years I have had access to him whenever i needed it. He has a total commitment to helping our children. I don't know any doctor unless you were an established patient where you could call and get them to order tests. If you do not know him then your comments are really unfair.ISent from my iPhones i am offended by this post and the attack on dr bohan just because you didnt like what u were told. just because he doesnt work with kids with seisures doesnt mean he is a bad dr and doesnt have ecperience and specializes in kids wih autism. not all specializes drs deal in all areas of their specialty. dr bohan did a more thorough evaluation and spent more time with my husband and i and my son over 3 consecutive days than the months and many dr visits we endured thru the tch autism center to end up with the neuro there saying my son didnt have autism! Guest guest
We had a miserable experience with Dr Bohan. He was knowledgable and spent a lot of time with us but he didn't listen to what we were telling him about our child. He wanted to do a 24 hour EEG but in our home. At that time Sammy was extremely violent and it was our gut and the reccomendation of the therapists that we do the EEG in the hospital so Sammy would not injure himself. When we told dr Bohan our desire to do the EEG in the hospital rather in the home, he started screaming at us that we were neglecting our child and he would never see us again. It was horrible.
