Hi Carol-

Happy 2008. Good to hear from you. Happy Millie day!

Thinking of you on this first day of a New Year.

Sending along hugs and manatee kisses-

Sandie

it did snow a light dusting here in Iowa, no need to shovel and it is cold,

freezing, thermometer shows 10

-- 2008 and Millie is awake!

Millie got up this morning and actually is better than before her

little blue pill vacation.

No whiney voice, speaking in complete sentences, asking real

questions, and tracking well.

She wasn't on any pain meds while she was so dopey and she seems to

have cleared a bit.

If I didn't have to give her pain meds I think there would be less

brain interfernce.

I think a lot of her pain is in her muscles from dehydration.

Sitting across from her right now she is initiating conversation,

forgiving me for overdosing her, and asking if we can do something

fun in her new wheelchair.

She just asked if my mother was coming by this week so she could tell

her that she loves her and loves her daughter. 36 hours ago I was

target for all of her aggression.

She is actually smiling!

I just noticed that Millie has a bruise on her forehead. I do not

know where that came from! I never saw her fall, and now I am

wondering if the little blue pill had nothing to do with her

sleeping. I know she didn't fall at all yesterday, so I am wondering

if she fell before and was so wound from a bump on her head.

I am sure there is nothing to be done about the bump, but it worrries

me enough to feel we do need 24/7 care for her.

i still think she is safer in her home than anywhere else. She has

only ever fallen once before, and this may be a new stage. Looks

like we will have to get the shower seat and the top hat.

I think we better max out this Milie while we can. It might be a

good day to get to see her greatgrands.

It's 6 in the morning, and she is going to go back to bed for a

while, but I hope this Millie is who wakes up from her nap. It would

be a good day for Jim to interact with his mom.

Emma and Ron are you out there?

Carol

Faithful Sandie,

I came back over to my house and Jim is sleeping.

We have both become absolute slugs with all the caregiving.

At least I have had my meds and a shower, and the rain is clearing,

so I may just have to kayak down to the manatee hole just to get out

some.

The sun is not shining, so even though it is in the 70's it tends to

be depressing like you guys have up north.

I am thinking of billing Millie's account for all the caregiving just

to help protect her home if we have to do medicaid. I could just

transfer it into a diffeerent account so we still have funds.

I never knew about craigs list. There are a lot of neat things

listed locally. I may have found a waterbed to put at Millie's. I

only need a single size, which is good because my room is about the

size of a walk-in closet. I know Millie would love the waterbed

with the heat, it is just she wouldn't be able to get in and out of

it.

Clouds are low today so we can hear lots of air traffic heading back

north. We aren't where the noise is annoying, the clouds just make

it more obvious today.

I am giving away " Poor Baby, Poor Baby, Poor Baby! " times 100 to

whomever needs them today. Take all or part. I can make more!

Back to the archives for me.
