Hey all, I promised you an update on Keeley, so here it is.

Her appt. with the child psychiatrist seemed to go very well, except

when I told him things that she'd rather I didn't share! I do

believe he got a little taste of her hostility, no matter how under

her breath she tried to mutter it! A lot of things came out, good

and bad, and I think the doctor got a good, solid picture of

things. He made a few good points to her that really made her stop

and think, especially about the things she does to get herself into

trouble.

He didn't technically diagnose her as bipolar, but he did put her on

a very low dose of Abilify, in hopes that it will get her aggressive

behavior and rages under control. He did say that she has

depressive problems and anxiety, and self esteem problems, and

possible ADD. She got very upset with me when I told him how she's

constantly saying that she's ugly, fat, and stupid (of course, she

tried to say she was " just kidding " about the stupid part!). He

really grilled her about her eating habits, making sure she didn't

have an eating disorder, and told her that she was literally at

the " ideal " size for her height and age, if not a little on the

small side. I found out that her great-grandmother once told her

she was fat, right as she was starting middle school, and that's

where it started. As for the ugly thing, we haven't gotten to the

root of that yet.

I'm hoping the Abilify and this doctor can help find my little girl

again! We're sure going to give it our best shot!

Take care all!

Much love,

Jen

Hi Jen,

I sure hope the abilify works well for Keeley...I have heard it

works quite well (on people other than my son that is!)

My son is DX'd with BP, ADHD and anxiety. He did very well on Seroquel for 2

years but then it wasn't working and we went to the Abilify a few weeks ago, and

day by day he is getting worse...we go back to the P-doc tomorrow. The sad truth

is that it is trial and error to find a med to help.

Is Keeley in any therapy? DBT (dialectical behavior therapy)therapy may be very

helpful for some of the self-esteem and anxiety issues and may help find the

root of some of the problems.

It is helping both me and my son...if you want more info about it

please feel free to e-mail me off list.

Keep us posted on Keeley's progress!

TTFN and HUGS
