Guest guest
Hi All, I have read a few of the seatbelt problems you all are having. I use a clip to keep it from pulling tight. Seems to work well. We got them at Kragen Auto Parts but I'm sure most auto parts stores woulld havethem. I do have a warning about wearing only the lap belt. My parents and aunt and uncle were in a horrible car accident in 1996. The back seat where my mom and aunt were only had the lap belt. Because of the force of being thrown forward and sideways, the belt literally pushed all their organs into their chests and ripped them wide open. Both lived but have suffered irrepairable damage because of it not only to their organs in the abdomen but also the heart and lungs from the stress of having everything pressing into them. If they had had the shoulder belts on as well, they would have been saved this agony. They also had severe head/face and neck injuries. I just don't want anyone else to have to go through the 5 months of agony we all went through while they were in ICU being put back together a piece at a time. It is worth a little discomfort (and the clip helps that) than to go through any of this. While she doesn't have the breathing problems that some are speaking of, I use it for her because of her being too short for the shoulder belt to go across in the right place. And if you adjust it the right way, like Kathi said, you can keep the shoulder belt from being too binding across the chest area and still offer the protection that you need.
